I think that this is one of the best british films made. The acting and directing is perfect. Paddy Considine is brilliant. The film is funny as well as being scary and dark. Well worth a look.
Another Shane Meadow's success story...

After seeing Goodbye Charlie Bright, This is England and Dead Man's Shoes; I wasn't quite sure what to expect from this title, as I had mixed opinions on those three films. Dead Man's shoes was fantastic, instantly becoming one of my favourite films. However I wasn't majorly impressed with Goodbye Charlie Bright. I was delighted to see Paddy Considine casted in this film as I think he is a real talent. This film takes you on a journey of a relationship of two young boys. You get attached to the two main characters and begin to wonder where they are going to end up. A great individual story accompanied by realistic characters makes this a must see from the acclaimed director, Shane Meadows.
Poor & very disapointed

I usually love Shane Meadows and was really looking forward to watching this film. The characters are great (Paddy Considine is amazing again) and the film has loads of potential but there's no real story here.
As i was watching it i found myself wondering when it was going to kick in properly, and then, just when it did a little the credits started rolling!!
In my opinion it's a very, very dissapointing effort.
AMAZING!

The best?
That's saying something - there are some belters out there - my top one being "The Wicker Man" (original) which is excellent - but this has got my No. 1. spot now.
I'd let my copy of 'Romeo' out and only just got it back, so I'd been waiting for a bit to hear Shane Meadows & Paddy Considine's stuff - I'm glad I watched it now.
The only fault for me in that the film as no subtitles, as I like to see the 'original words' on screen whilst folk do the commentary... bu that apart I loved it.
You get to hear all Shane's autobiographical stuff which IS interesting... I know at times some directors can rattle on about all kinds of boring stuff in a commentary, but not this one - it's all good stuff.
Interesting to see where Paddy got his accent for Morell from... based on Bartley Gorman as in 'King Of The Gypsies' - hopefully Shane will be doing a film about the bare-knuckle fighter at some point.
What I also like is some of the daft stuff... the 'laddish nonsense' and Paddy's impersonations - they're not overdone like on some commentaries where you know the folk are basically amusing themselves and 'showing off' (like on some of Series 2 of "Phoenix Nights") - they're sporadic and are actually very funny... if you're humour borders on 'lavatorial' there's a couple of comments guaranteed to get you roaring!
So I'd left it for ages to watch the film with the commentary, but now I have, I'd recommend it to anyone.
Mind you - I had to switch back to the 'normal' soundtrack for the classic line:
"I can't destroy you today lads - I'm on very serious business!"

superb british film with excellent acting and a great cast. it will have you on the edge of your seat with its dark portrayal of at what first seems a harmless relationship between two boys and a simple kind of guy that they meet by chance, simple and sinister.
A LEG-END OF A FILM!

Class from start to finish. Great story, great humour, gripping drama. The bad acting from Romeo's mum can be excused because the film is so good.
Essential.

Shane Meadows' debut feature film starring the fantastic always-on-top-form Paddy Considine.
It's a faltless gritty piece of British film thay will make you laugh and cry, at the same time.
Don't hesitate.
