Miracles happen in unexpected places, even in the Death Row cell block at Cold Mountain Penitentiary. There John Coffey, a gentle giant of a prisoner with supernatural powers, brings a sense of spirit and humanity to his guards and fellow inmates.

Tom Hanks leads a stellar ensemble (including Michael Clarke Duncan as Coffey) in this emotional, uplifting story of guards and captives; husbands and wives; prisoners and a remarkable mouse named Mr. Jingles; and on another level, of a moviemaker and his source.

That filmmaker is Frank Darabont, who returns after his 1994 directorial debut, The Shawshank Redemption, to adapt another tale by Stephen King into stirring, crowd-pleasing entertainment, nominated for four Academy Awards, including Best Picture.

Just like the Shawshank Redemption, The Green Mile, a Stephen King novel, is a masterpiece. You can tell because Frank Darabont did them both. He is clearly a genius.

The Green Mile is a harrowing tell that will definetly leave you in awe at the end! The stroy is beautifully told, and it casts a light on the grim things aswell, like the executions.
One in particular will chill your bones!

In short - Epic 9.5/10

 Truly A Modern Classic

This movie is primarily about Paul Edgecomb (Hanks) and his life as a corrections officer on Death Row in the 1930s. The movie is told in flashback by Edgecomb in a nursing home and follows a string of supernatural events that take place after the arrival of John Coffey (Michael Clarke Duncan), a (wrongley) convicted rapist and murderer.

This movie will tug at your heart-strings and make you want to weep. Special note should go to Michael Clarke Duncan, who's performance in this film is one of the best i've ever seen.

I just reviewed the book, I read it first only this year and had wanted to see the film for a while and actually just watched it the other week.
Once the film ended, I sat back and in the silence that followed between myself and my partner I whispered one word that describes this film entirely...'amazing.'
You have not lived until you have seen this film and read the book, I was leaning forward in my seat at the climax with wide eyes filled with tears. It was the most powerful moving film I had ever seen in my life.
