The Mummy (Dir. Stephen Sommers) (1999): Deep in the Egyptian desert, a handful of people searching for a long-lost treasure have just unearthed a 3,000 year old legacy of terror. Combining the thrills of a rousing adventure with the suspense of Universal's legendary 1932 horror classic, The Mummy, starring Brendan Fraser, is a true nonstop action epic, filled with dazzling visual effects, top-notch talent and superb storytelling.

The Mummy Returns (Dir. Stephen Sommers) (2001): Set in 1933, ten years after the events in the first film, Rick O'Connell (Brendan Fraser) is married to Evelyn (Rachel Weisz) and the couple has settled in London raising their 9-year-old son Alex (Freddie Boath).

When a chain of events finds the corpse of Imhotep (Arnold Vosloo) resurrected in the British Museum, Imhotep walks the earth determined to fulfill his quest for immortality. But another force has also been set loose, one born of the darkest rituals of ancient Egyptian mysticism and even more powerful than Imhotep. When these forces clash, the fate of the world will hang in the balance, sending the O'Connell's on a mission to save the world and their son before it is too late...

The Mummy 3 - Tomb Of The Dragon Emperor (Dir. Rob Cohen) (2008): Doomed by a double-crossing sorceress (Michelle Yeoh) to spend eternity in suspended animation, China's ruthless Dragon Emperor (Jet Li) and his 10,000 warriors have laid forgotten for eons, entombed in clay as a vast, silent terra cotta army. But when dashing adventurer Alex O'Connell (Luke Ford) is tricked into awakening the ruler from eternal slumber, the reckless young archaeologist must seek the help of the only people who know more than he does about taking down the undead: his parents - Rick and Evelyn O'Connor (Brendan Frase and Maria Bello).

THREE TIMES THE ADVENTURE, THREE TIMES THE FUN!

None of the Mummy trilogy can be called classics, and always come off as second rate Indianna Jones knock offs, but what makes the film work is the sense of fun, and adventure, that knows exactly where it's "B" movie origins lie. The pace in all three films is fast, not giving the viewer enough time to pick holes in the plot, but the films are let down by it's over use of CGI. Some of them are amazing as the sand wall in the first, the pigmy Mummies in the second, and the Terracotta army in the third, but some look like they belong in a video game, as the Scorpion King, and the ill judged additions of the friendly Yeti's of the third. But this trilogy is of brilliant value, and will no doubt will keep the kids and adults entertained, in the wet afternoons.
The Mummy 1999 ****
The Mummy Returns 2001 ***

Silly, Corney, but a hell of a lot of fun!

this box set is like eating in a fantastic restaurant with a gorgeoues appetiser, a fantastic main course then dog poop for dessert. the first two films are very good but the third is very, very bad.

 OK

All 3 movies are good, but in there own way, the 1st and 2nd films were connected to each other, and the storylines were fantastic, i enjoyed them all the way through, but the 3rd movie seems to be on it's own, it doesent connect with the first two films, and it doesent really "feel" like a sequel to me, it is basically a seperate film, and it had no mummies in it, did you see anyone with bandages on? I did enjoy the 3rd though, but it will never "feel" like a mummy film.

 Great to begin with

Im sorry but as this trilogy progresses it simply gets worse. The mummy is a fantastic film, I love it. The mummy returns however is a drop down from the first, just in the way it is written. It has almost a stupid sense of humour to it that just doesn't fit in with the series, and need i say more about the third?? They feel, all of them, as if they were written by different people. Which is why it only gets 3 stars.

My advice is buy the Mummy on single DVD and save yourself wasting money on the sequels.

The Mummy *****
The Mummy Returns ***
Tomb of the Dragon Emperor * (I would give it half a star if i could!)
