20th Century Fox brings you three action blockbusters on this fantastic boxed set.

The Day After Tomorrow: Where will you be?

From the Director of 'Independence Day' comes a spectacular roller-coaster ride that boasts pulse-pounding action and sensational, mindblowing special effects.

When global warming triggers the onset of a new Ice Age, tornadoes flatten Los Angeles, a tidal wave engulfs New York City and the entire Northern Hemisphere begins to freeze solid. Now, climatologist Jack Hall (Dennis Quaid), his son Sam (Jake Gyllenhaal) and a small band of survivors must ride out the growing superstorm to stay alive in the face of an enemy more powerful and relentless than any they've ever encountered... Mother Nature!

Flight Of The Phoenix (2004): The only way is up...

A group of air crash survivors are stranded in the Mongolian desert with no chance of rescue. Facing a brutal environment, dwindling resources, and an attack by desert smugglers, they realize their only hope is doing the impossible; building a new plane from the wreckage of the old one...

Volcano: Something chilling is heating up the city of Angels...

Quakes, Riots, Mudslides. Los Angeles has seen it all..almost. Get set for nonstop action, searing suspense and explosive special effects when Oscar winner Tommy Lee Jones stars in "the first great action film of the year!".

Something unspeakably chilling is heating up the city of Angels. Beneath the famed La Brea Tar Pits, a raging volcano has formed, raining a storm of deadly fire bombs and an endless tide of white-hot lava upon the stunned city. Experience the pulse-pounding thrills as the dream capital of the world erupts into the stuff nightmares are made of.

Flight of the Phoenix (2004) -***
This remake of the original 1965 film isn't quite superior to it's predecessor, however it is still worth a watch for a brilliantly slimy turn from Giovanni Ribisi as Elliot, as well as a reasonably tight storyline with some excellent sequences, particularly the plane crash and the clash with the native desert people. Dennis Quaid, Tyrese Gibson and Miranda Otto put in solid performances, and Hugh Laurie is fairly amusing as the irritable Brit, but Ribisi is the real star.
The Day After Tomorrow (2004) -***
This huge blockbuster is most remarkable for its incredibly realistic new reels and its way of showing what's going on all over the world, as opposed to just where its main cast are. Unfortunately, the film gets much less gripping in the second half and the cast seem to realise this and get slightly bored by the whole thing. It's ending is pretty predictable and lets down an otherwise shocking film. Worth a watch, just for the spectacle but if you want to be truly scared by climate change, watch An Inconvenient Truth.
Volcano (1997) - **
An awkward and unfeasible thriller notable for two things:
1. You've gotta love Tommy Lee Jones, whatever he does (Men In Black II included.)
2. It's actually quite funny, particularly when Don Cheadle gets going.
As with The Day After Tomorrow, this film is far more entertaining when everything is just starting to go wrong, the sluggish second half just isn't as fun.
