Mad Max is the best ani-hero since Dirty Harry.
The first movie sees a young Gibson out for revenge over the Death of his wife and child by the hands of a bunch of out-back hells angels, lead by the toe cutter. This is a low budget classic. A word of advice is to take off the terrible American dubbing and put on the original Aussie spoken soundtrack.

MAD MAX 2 ( AKA known as THE ROAD WARRIOR )
Is the best of the trilogy, With it's much bigger budget. This is more a remake, and the stunts are some of the best ever filmed. It's total car carnage. This is the ultimate future shock movie, that's often copied but never beaten!
*****
MAD MAX BEYOND THUNDERDOME
This should be called LAID BACK MAX, as the brutal edge of the first two movies has gone, and we see a softer side to Max, as he helps lead a group of Kids from the outback, to a new world. This is far weaker than the first two classics. But the addition of Tina ( I can't dance ) Turner as Auntie, the Leader of Barter Town is a excellent choice. The big suprise is that she can act! and the fight in the dreaded Thunderdome is still excellent after over 20 years. The film ups gear to the final car carnage, that made Mad MAX 2 such a classic. It's just a pitty that film much needed hard edge was not present throughout the rest of the film

Watching these movies, you can see why Hollywood was knocking on Gibson's door, and soon after these Gibson gave us Martin Riggs in the Lethal Weapon Movies. But unlike the Leathal Weapons, the Mad Max Trilogy never turned into comedies !

I purchased this set because I remember enjoying watching the Mad Max films many years ago and at this price you can't go wrong!
I watched all three in a session and was as pleased to see them again as I was all those years ago.

Important! Mad Max (first film) it defaults to English dubbing, change it to the original Australian it is MUCH better!

The three films follow the story of Max, from his fight against lawlessness in the first film to his struggles for survival in a post-apocalyptic near future.

The first film holds a place in the hearts of many, me included. The film includes high speed chases, unnecessary violence, rape and murder, all the ingredients for a hero like Max to flourish! We follow Max on his quest to live a 'normal' life in an 'abnormal' world where he is a member of a woefully ill-equipped police force.

The second and third films follow Max as he is thrust into being a reluctant hero, usually shortly after a beating or shortly before a beating. Fast chases and weird bad guys and some of the most unusual characters you will ever see all add up to make these films ground-breaking classics.
