The Exorcist saga is brought together on this awesome 5 disc boxed set.

The Exorcist: The belief in evil - and that evil can be cast out. From these two strands of faith, author William Peter Blatty and director William Friedkin wove The Exorcist, the frightening and realistic story of an innocent girl inhabited by a malevolent entity.

The Exorcist II - The Heretic: Pasuzu, the incarnation of evil cast out of little Regan by Father Merrin returns to torment her once again...

The Exorcist III: A serial killer haunts the streets of Georgetown: how do these events have anything to do with the exorcism of 15 years ago?

The Exorcist IV - The Beginning: Father Lankester Merrin thinks that he has glimpsed the face of Evil. In the years following World War II, Merrin (Skarsgard) is relentlessly haunted by memories of the unspeakable brutality perpetrated against the innocent people of his parish. In the wake of all he has seen, both his faith in his fellow man and the Almighty have deserted him. He can no longer honestly call himself a man of God.

Merrin has traveled far from his native Holland in a desperate attempt to escape the horrors that he witnessed there. While drifting through Cairo, he is approached by a collector of rare antiquities to join a British archeological excavation in the remote Turkana region of Kenya. They have unearthed a Christian Byzantine church in inexplicably pristine condition as if it had been buried on the day it was completed. The collector wants Merrin, an Oxford-educated archeologist, to find an ancient relic hidden within the church before the British discover it.

But beneath the church, something much older sleeps, waiting to be awoken. Madness descends upon the local villagers and the contingent of British soldiers sent to guard the excavation. Merrin watches helplessly as the atrocities of war are repeated against another innocent village, atrocities he had prayed never to see again. The blood of innocents flows freely on the East African plain, and the horror has only just begun.

In the place where Evil was born, Merrin will finally see its true face.

Dominion - Prequel To The Exorcist: The Exorcist film you were never meant to see...

Director Paul Schrader's original prequel to "The Exorcist" was initially set aside for not being gory enough for today's MTV generation in favour of Renny Harlin's "Exorcist:: The Beginning" which beat it to theatres.

Schrader's prequel is a more atmospheric and cerebral affair that is closer in tone to the original highly successful film, often hailed as the scariest ever!

 Brilliant boxset

This is the definitive exorcist boxset.
EXORCIST - a brilliant film with a good 1hr and 10 minute making of and how the films curse affected everybody.
EXOCIST II: HERETIC - a very poor film it shows they just wanted to cash in on the franchise and very poor extras this is the reason the boxset gets 4 stars instead of 5.
EXORCIST III: LEGION - The true sequel to the sequel to the exorcist a brilliant and complex film that is a close tie for this as my favourite exorcist no extras beside a trailer.
DOMINION: PREQUEL TO EXORCIST - A very good film which is like a thriller like the first and third ones but it just isn't as good, an audio commentary and deleted scenes make this an o.k dvd but an in depth featurette about why the film wasn't shown at the cinemas and the politics about the making of this film would have been nice and finally....
EXORCIST: THE BEGINNING - Directed by schlock director Renny Harlin he had a lot of pressure to make it in a short time and with little budget and with a hounding studio expressing the need for gore HELLO THE SERIES DOESN'T NEED GORE all it needs is a good story and great tension but watching the film back to back with Dominion you can tell the similarities and differences betwwen the two and this was enjoyable but it wasn't as strong as Dominion, Exorcist and Exorcist 3

In summary a very good boxset with some great films but a big documentary chronicaling the first film to the IV would have been nice and some more info about the prequel situatuation woukld have been nice but hey it still rocks....THE POWER OF CHRIST COMPELS YOU... to buy this.

This box-set is only worth buying for the original movie and part 3. as for the rest, the less said the better ! If I was you I would buy the movies individually and not have to spend all your money on a very averge Box-set.
THE EXORCIST 1973
This is the best horror movie ever made, and a all time classic ! *****
THE EXORCIST 2 1977
This has to be one of the worst sequels ever made.
Pathetic on every level. It was not a heart attack that killed Richard Burton, it was the shame of being in this un-holy mess ! *
EXORCIST 3 1990
This is the only worthy sequel. George .C.Scott is brilliant.
The tension and fear drip under your skin. The only let down is a anti-climax. ****
EXORCIST THE BEGINNING 2004
Renny Halins take on this much troubled shoot.
Stellan Skasgard is brilliant as a Young Merrin, some good moments of tension, but allot more rubbish bits.
Not a terrible movie, but could have been great. **
THE DOMINIUM 2004
The first attempt to make the prequel directed by Paul Scrader and was scrapped by the studio for it's slow pace.
Stellan Skasgard again plays the same part as in Renny Harlins version, but with more depth. The film gives you more to think about than Harlins re-shoot, but is very very dull. **

It's a great shame that the original classic is dogged by the lame sequels, and if you want to buy a copy of the underrated part 3, you have to buy this box-set.
Although most of the sequels are poor, this is still a good looking package, and still would sit well in any horror fan's collection.

2 excusable films, 2 truly awful ones, and only 1 worth it

No-one can really argue that The Exorcist was, and still is, a classic. So when it appears in a boxset with all the sequels, it seems only natural to grab the offer. At least it would be, if the other films were worth it. The Exorcist II has to be the worst sequel ever made, with a shocking score and some ridiculous acting. In fact, it is ridiculous in every way. Then there's The Exorcist III, William Peter Blatty's own attempt to redeem a sequel...but the boring storyline, the fact you don't see any murders, and the tedious anti-climax make the film tough to get through and something not really worth bothering with. The Beginning is probably the second best here next to the origional, simply because it is the most recent and therefore contains alot more interesting content to actually satisfy horror fans, in blood terms as well as freaky moments. Dominion contains some great acting and a nice score, but nothing really happens and there is some truly terrible CGI that lets the rest down. Overall, buy The Exorcist: The Version You've Never Seen seperately and take The Beginning with a pinch of salt....and just pretend that almost everything else just does not exist.
