  Batman as it Should Be

| | See all deanlowdon's reviews (465)

The story of Batman is well known to comic book and movie fans. Following the murder of his parents Bruce Wayne travels the world in order to seek the means to fight the criminal underworld of Gotham City. Upon his return he adopts the guise of his alter ego, striking fear into those that threaten the city.

The quality of Batman movies over the years has been a mixed bag but with Christopher Nolan, one of the best directors working today, taking the story back to the beginning we finally see Batman as it was meant to be. In Batman Begins Nolan ignores the high camp of previous iterations to create a far more gritty and realistic portrayal of caped crusader and it is all the better for it.

Christian Bale, despite the over-the-top Batman voice, is excellent in his first outing and is well supported by a talented cast making Batman without doubt the best of the recent influx of superhero movies.

  Dark and Single Edition!!

Christopher Nolan had done a fantastic job on Batman Begins. It's one of the best Batman movies ever. Everything you wanted to know about how the hell did Batman get the Batcave, The Batmobile, his Bat Suit... Explains it all in this.
If you're not interested in the extras but love the movie then this is the edition for you!! Brilliant!!

  Sence of the theatrical...

Batman has always seemed to make great viewing and with the darker takes on him of the past to decades, great movies.

This was a real treat though. It's almost rational take on an irrational super hero. Many of his trates had become figures of fun and jokes, but this movie successfully explains away the fact that he can keep this double a life a secret and that he's up all night and nobody seems to care!

Chris Nolan has managed to give Batman a human face and the world he inhabits a sense of scale and realism. But that's not to say though that it lacks a sense of the theatrical...

  the real batmansaga begins here

i guess this is the movie a lot of batman fans have been waiting for... since a long time. it all started pretty well with batman and batman returns, but after that the level got slowly bad, and ended up with more special effects and freaky/crazy characters than plot or story or passion. it looked like it had become a merchandisingproject more than a movieproject.
batman begins puts an end to all that: this movie has a more serious character, a real dark atmosphere, more story and less action (although still enough to keep you going, and certainly more complementary to the story)... and therefore is more convincing, and more intriguing. batman IS batman instead of some weird suit flying around.
knowing that 'the dark knight' will also be directed by christopher nolan makes that movie very promising.

I found this film pretty boring on the whole. The villain called the scarecrow is on par with mr freeze as being the most pointless villain in all the batman films!Christian bale is alright as batman, but i still prefer michael keaton.

  Best Batman film out there

I also think this is better than the Dark Knight as it includes the Scarecrow as a villain, superb film with amazing effects, Micheal Caine is brilliant as Bruce Wayne's butler, Alfred and a cameo with Morgan Freeman as Lucius Fox, Batmans weapons maker is amazing too.

Great film, with a good ending.
