A melancholic and perhaps disturbing yet beautiful film, Christiane F captures realism from a gritty script based upon a true story and outstanding performances from young untrained actors, and a cameo from David Bowie. The film dares to look deep into the romance between adolescent love, prostitution and drugs. Even with its dark side the film retains an innocence, a film for the thoughtful.
