a superb film with. a superb cast, the action scenes and non action scenes make the film one of my favourites. if you like the rock and other films like that then you will love this film. michael beihn and charlie sheen make the action and humour. i believe that this film wont dissapoint now. and for years to come
Good movie with a good cast, not a classic due to the cheesy feel around the serious issues and the cavalier attitude towards them but a great friday night film.
I think I was one of the few people who went to see this in the spring of 1991. The film was dated then, so after watching the rescent Act Of Valour I thought I would dust down my copy of this and give it a re-watch. The first thing that you notice is the cheesey one liners they grate like hell not to mention the rock sound track with Jon Bon Jovi murdering the Boys are back in town on the pointless golf course scene. Watch out for the fauls erratic driving by Michael Beihn ( again a SEAL after The Abyss 1989 and The Rock 1996), not to mention the WTF? moment when Charlie Sheen goes mental (again) jumps from a moving jeep (probably due to Beihn's driving) into the sea. The characters are under written and bad guys are steriotypes, but you got to remember this was filmed eleven yeas before 9/11 and the cold war had just ended, so when being filmed we did not realy know who were the next on America's hit list. But for all the films faults the action is still excellent with a brilliant Halo jump sequence. The technoligy used was then cutting edge, but now seems very dated, but none of it really matters. This is a old school action film, that never aims to make a political message (if it does it's very muted under all the gunfire) and like 2012's Act Of Valour it not about the acting.
It's dated of course but it's still damn good fun and best washed down with a few bottles of beer!
See if you like.....
