What can one say about this movie. It is the wizard of oz. It is almost universally liked by everyone. It has all the classic quotes and songs. You can follow the yellow brick road to find a brain, a heart and courage and also a way home. Judy garland seems so innocent and young and so different from years to come. This is a classic plain and simple. Buy this

I've got this special edition, and it is indeed special, it provides some amazing insights that may mean you can't watch the movie quite the same way ever again, so be warned, 1930s Hollywood sounds like a scary place to work as an actor!

To me watching this movie though, this is Christmas as a child.

Of course, the hardest part of owning this movie is having to tell your parents...

1939, a revolution in its own right! The Wizard of Oz became the first ever technicolor film. Amazing scenes with gobsmacking colours amazed viewers then and still nearer 70 years later. The great Judy Garland takes us through a fairy tale world of excitement and ore as Victor Fleming expressed one of the first ever flash back sequences to create the wonderful world of Oz. A true family classic enjoyable im sure for decades to come.

Dorothy a young farm girl from Kansas played by the fabulous Judy Garland whose recital of "Somewhere over the rainbow" is both touching and heartwarming....is taken in her dreams to the fantasy land of Oz where she meets up with a tin man, a scarecrow, a Lion with good or bad witches along the way to see The Mighty Wizard of Oz....We're off to see the wizard amidst a haunted forest,an evil witch and a quest to reach the Emerald City were great wonders lurk such as the horse of a different colour.....Dorothy(Judy Garland) was made for this role with her superb singing ability and the musical score...The imagination of this tale is brought to the big screen in the most colourful spectacular way possible albeit the first part of the film was made in black and white....This is a film for young and old alike as like so many other films of it's time has stayed popular so much so it is hard to believe it was made in 1939....truely incredible

Considering the year this was made, this film is truly amazing. I know people as children who were scared by the witch and even today can not watch the film, what a shame because for me this is a top 5 film of all time.

A must for anyones DVD collection.
