As a previous reviewer noted, several of Hitchcock's masterpieces are absent from this box set. There is one very simple reason for this - he films included here were produced by Universal, while others such as North By Northwest and Strangers on a Train (both Warners), Notorious (Selznick) and To Catch a Thief (Paramount) were produced by different companies. Ultimately, this is a great value box set, and all his other films save for a couple are available on DVD elsewhere.

What this box does contain is a great cross-section of the Master's work from the 40s through to the 70s, including several bona-fide contenders for the greatest film ever made (Psycho, Vertigo, Rear Window), Hitchcock's personal favourite of all his movies (Shadow of a Doubt), some comparitavely lesser but still highly effective works (Rope, Marnie, The Birds, The Trouble With Harry) and a couple of slight misfires (Torn Curtain, Topaz - hey, with that many films to his credit, there have to be some which… more »
