  Complete?

No, this is not a complete Hitchcock collection. It never claims to be complete, so I dont see the point of giving it less stars for that. This is a great product, packed with some of his best movies and a great collection for any movie buff. This product needs five out of five stars.

  Excellent movies

This box set is excellent, it has 14 movies, with the makings of each movie! I love Hitchcock movies, he was fantastic director.
The box is very nice, and each dvd comes in its own plastic case.

I ordered this on the 19th of march i think, then it was dispatched 24 hours later, then it was posted, then i received it yesterday 25th of march. So it took about a couple of days, but it was damn well worth it.

I gave this box set 4 stars, because its excellent for the BARGAIN price! If you look anywhere else, its about 30 pounds or something.
The only reason its missing one star, is that if it had all of the hitchcock classic movies, i would have been even more thrilled. However it is AWESOME for the asking price.
NOW, im just looking to complete my collection.

Message to classic suspense film lovers: BUY THIS SET! Iam sure you wont be dissapointed.

  Fantastic Hitch.

No, it doesn't feature all of his great films, but the films it does include here easily make this set worth 5 stars.

The Birds, Vertigo, Psycho, Marnie, Rear Window and The Man Who Knew Too Much are all classics. They're all amazing 5 star classic Hitchcock.

Other great films in the set, Frenzy (his first in Britain for over 30 years), Shadow of a Doubt (often said to be Hitch's personal favourite of his films), Saboteur and Rope.

This, along with the other boxset on Play, and you have most of his films from the 1940s onwards.

  Fantastic value

This box set is fantastic value, so good I bought one for myself and one for a friend who would also appreciate this load of classic films.

One of the things that is great about this box set is every single disc has special features including things like photo galleries and even some of "Hitch's" own sketches for storyboards.
something I really enjoyed about this boxed set was the second disc of Psycho which had Alfred Hitchcock receiving a lifetime achievement award, which had James Stewart and some other class oldie actors, the whole thing was quite emotional I thought.
The only film I did not like in this box set was Topaz, but it was watchable, like on the special features of this disc Alfred Hitchcock never actually made a bad film, but he made many classics that will never be forgotten.
Also something that is important to note about these films as on the special features it explains how they went about restoring theses films and remastering them so they can be as clear as possible, sadly even Alfred Hitchcock never seen his movies so clearly. In my mind there are some worthy classics in this box set such as Vertigo, rear Window and of course psycho.
Alfred Hitchcock was a perfect film maker, now after all these years I would say his only flaw is he like to shoot as much as he could in the studio rather than location, and nowadays and the clarity of the pictures you can see a mile off the blue screen effects and fake backgrounds, but his no way ruins the films, I just feel if he was still alive today with all todays technologies he would have put together something special but different from what he did back then, one can only imagine what he would have been like now as a director.
It is easy to see why he was called the master of suspense, these films even now are very suspenseful edge of the seat type thing, it is great stuff.
Highly recommended box set!

I want to see more Hitchcock on blu ray though.

  Great value for brilliant films

| | See all HoratioDonavan's reviews (18)

There's no denying the fact that Hitchcock's films are as watchable now as they were when they came out, and the box set goes to prove it. While there is the definite chance that a certain favourite is missing from the collection (Lifeboat and Notorious are mine), there's no denying that included in the set are some of his greatest achievements, from the grisly 'Psycho' to the slap-stick 'The Trouble with Harry' to the mind-numbing 'Vertigo'. I will admit that some are more watchable than others (Topaz for example is one I would have left out) however no matter how bad a movie might be, there is still the joy of watching the great man himself appear in any shape or form. There is no reason not to invest in what is essentially a collection of art by one of the most talented directors ever.

  'hitchcock' ! 'master of suspense'

| | See all rbmusicman's reviews (895)

the films within the pack are a 'giant' part of 'movie' history.
those of you that watched any or many of these films will know the 'hype' many of these movies had at the time of release.
'alfred hitchcock' is among one of the most the legendary and respected director's of his time.
films such as 'vertigo' - 'torn curtain' - 'rear window' - 'marnie'- 'frenzy' and of course 'psycho' and 'the birds' are to this day considered 'classic's' the latter two being my personal favourites.
obviously the films are a little 'dated' by todays expectations, however this collection is for many full of 'movie-going' memories.
frankly at less than 'one pound and thirty pence' each you can't go wrong, i say '5' stars for the memories.

  Great Deal !!

| | See all strummerhxc's reviews (3)

14 films + 1 documentary of one of the greatest directors ever for only 24 euros.
DVDs are packed in thiner cases than usual but this isn't a matter at all and each one contain several extras, including the "Making of".
This boxset have been an awesome X-mas present for myself and would be for anyone who likes cinema.

If anyone miss some great films as "Strangers on a Train" or "North by Northwest", there is another cracking deal on Play.com offering these movies with another 5 Hitch's works. It's called "The Signature Collection. Alfred Hitchcock - Master of Suspense"

  Amazing collection

| | See all JohnGoy's reviews (3)

I can only add how amazing these films are and how well they do stand the test of time. The only problem I have is that this box set doesn't have 2 of my other favourite hitchcock films. North by Northwest and To Catch a Thief.
Other than that. Well worth the money :-)
