This film is an aquired taste, but all the better for it. It refuses to tell and present a story in a normal way, and therefore has Terry Gilliam written all over it. Johnny Depp is on fine form as a reporter too obsessed with mind bending drugs to really care about much else, and seeing the world through his eyes leads to some deliciously bizarre visuals. Benicio Del Toro also puts on a fantastic show, so definitely check this out.

Before watching this movie i didn't know anything about Hunter S Thompson after watching this movie i didn't know anything about Hunter S Thompson but that doesn't matter what does matter is that this movie you'll either love or hate. Sports Gonzo journalist Duke (Depp) & Dr Gonzo (Del Toro) Duke's attorney take a trip to Las Vegas to cover the Mint400 motorbike race, take copius amounts of illegal drugs, commit fraud and basically just run riot across the state of nevada terrorising the locals. Great Fun!!!! Watch out for the bats!!
Excellent

Rating 9/10 . Until recently I had never even heard of this film and was suprised how excellent it was when viewed. I would also recommend reading the book. Such an interesting story/writer. Highly recommended.
What a trip....!!

A compelling and visualy amazing fact based film about human nature pulling at the strings of what society says is 'normal'.
Johnny Depp's takes on the roll of Hunter. S. Thompson's alter ego, Raoul Duke, a much acclaimed writer for Rolling Stone Magazine who travels to Las Vegas with Benicio Del Toro's character Dr. Gonzo with a suitcase full of the most mind bending drugs and narcotics known to man.
Depp's role shows the inner thinking of Hunter's original written masterpiece with director Terry Gilliam helping to capture what can only be describes as a mind-altering, psychotic view of how the human mind can be satanically altered with the influence such substances.
A brilliantly written script together with sublime acting and influence from the two leads make this a cult masterpiece as well as a personal tribute to the man behind the book.

This is my all-time favourite film! Based on the life of Hunter S. Thompson, this film is a mix of drugs, humour, shock, drugs, drink and more drugs. Johnny Depp & Benicio Del Toro are fantastic in this film.
I played this on loop in the background of a party i once had, and even with no sound (as the music was so loud) People were watching it. A few of my mates asked it i could turn the music off so they could watch it properly! That says it all!
Amazing!
