They only met once, but it changed their lives forever.

Without doubt, John Hughes' The Breakfast Club is one of the greatest teen movies of all-time, if not the best. Without it, we might not have witnessed the phenomenal rise of the 'brat pack'; the group of actors synonymous with the teen films of the '80s.

They were five teenage students with nothing in common, faced with spending a Saturday detention together in their High School library. At 7am, they had nothing to say, but by 4pm, they had bared their souls to each other and become good friends. To the outside world they were simply the Jock, the Brain, the Criminal, the Princess, and the Kook, but to each other, they would always be the Breakfast Club.

The film's title comes from the nickname invented by students and staff for detention at the school attended by the son of one of John Hughes' friends. Thus, those who were sent to detention were designated members of "The Breakfast Club".

5 kids come together at 7am saturday morning for detention each from their own backgrounds, each with their own reason for being there and each with their own baggage.
You have the jock(Estevez) forced to do what keeps his overbearing dad happy,The homecoming princess(Ringwald) the pawn in her mother and fathers bitter war,The geek(Hall) focused only on his grades and keeping his parents happy,The outcast(Sheedy) a compulsive liar with problems fitting into normal life and The rebel(Nelson) hard has nails on the outside but lost and lonely beaten by his drunk father most nights.
At 7am these 5 were strangers but by 5pm they will have shared things with each other that they would never tell to their closet friends,They become The Breakfast Club.
Superbly cast, written and directed by the king of 80's teen/drama flicks John Hughes this is and always will be the defining teen movie that shaped a generation of 16 year old kids from the mid 80's.This really is a fantastic movie that has a great cast, amazing soundtrack and is one of my favourite 80's films and also one of my all time favourite movies for this price it is a must for your collection and if you have never seen it buy it today you will not be left disapointed 10/10.

 Don't you forget about me...

Ah...they just don't make 'em like they used to. Back in the 80's director John Hughes was considered a god by many, the creator of what many would consider the greatest teen comedies of all time. 'The Breakfast Club', for me, would have to be the high-point of his career. Avoiding the depressingly modern habit of resorting to endless toilet humour and titillation, 'The Breakfast Club' is an unparallelled success in it's simplicity. Much of the film is located in the one room with the five main characters (it could almost have been written for the stage) Sure, the characters do fit oh-so-neatly into stereotypes - the jock, the beauty, the nerd, the rebel and the weirdo but never before has a cast perfectly encapsulated such characters before. The sorely missed Paul Gleason is pure dynamite as Principal Richard Vernon (The next time I have to come in here, I'm crackin' skulls!) and the title track by Simple Minds never fails to bring a wave of nostalgia washing over me. THE classic 80's teen movie without a doubt. And Judd Nelson rules...

All Teen Movies Must Bow to This.

Every teenager worse nightmare is too spend one more second in school when they don't have to. When these five kids get Saturday detention, they are forced to be with other kids from other clicks. You can imagine there is going to some hostility in the air.
The group consists of a brain, a prom queen, a jock, a basket case and a trouble-maker.
In those small hours of Saturday detention tempers flare, feelings are hurt, hearts are broken and new friends and relationships appear as the day comes to close. Suddenly hell doesn't seem too bad after all...

We've all been there...most of us were one of them.

Five high school students, all different stereotypes, meet in detention, where they pour their hearts out to each other, and discover how they have a lot more in common than they thought....

They're all very different people but as the movie progresses and they learn more of each other, their never-ending afternoon detention will be one they'll never forget... very good movie

 Laughable

The only reason I rated this film this high is because the acting, the script and the roles are hilarious. I had heard this was a classic, and i thought I had to see it. I couldnt stop laughing. Its the funniest worst movie Ive ever seen. The last sceen is great.
