I collect Ray Harryhausen's work, and would say this is probably in the top 5, see my other reviews for more information on that.

All of his Sinbad movies have all the classic Harryhausen traits, non stop action, stop motion animated creatures mixed well into live action, and an extravagant epic appearance to all the characters and settings, scary monsters, magical creatures, it's all here!

For my money, though, although this is still a great example of classic Harryhausen, this is my least favourite of the Sinbad trilogy, some of the creatures don't quite work, particularly the sabre toothed tiger, and the giant walrus is just plain odd, but never mind, the film still engages well and some of the other creatures are quite stunning and the way they engage with the live action performers has never been better than here.

It's still a great film that all ages can enjoy though (so long as they aren't expecting seamless perfection!).

The extra's are extremely light on this DVD, but are still OK, particularly if you haven't seen them before on one of the other Harryhausen DVDs, but they do seem to just mix and match them quite randomly on these DVD releases.

Not one of his best I feel, but still high up on the chart and recommended!
