The second helping from HellBoy I found was okay and the 2 hours didn't drag at all. Plenty of action from the start and it is worth taking a look.

If you liked the first film then you will like this one as well.

Great movie but subtitles really are only in english. Bonus dvd has subtitles for about every language you might need, little bit annoying.

This is in my opinion Guillermo Del Toro's best English language film by some distance. Visually stunning, particularly the scenes in the troll market and with a fantastic central performance from Ron Perlman as Hellboy. Smarter, funnier and with better action sequences than the majority of the more publicized comic book movies. A buy you will not regret.

This has to be one of the greatest 'eye-candy' movies ever made! It looks amazing at all times. Superb visual effects, costumes, set and characters blend together into a very entertaining movie! the first film was a bit boring, but this one is great...and has superb banter throughout! Very funny in many places. Really good fun. Should've been a massive blockbuster. Guillermo del Toro has unsurpassed visual imagination, that's for sure. He must have weird dreams in real life!

 Fun but not perfect

Hellboy 2 is brimming with ideas. It doesn't stop. Guillermo is fascinated with the fantasy world around him. One scene through the market shows how much Guillermo cares for his creations- it's a brilliant almost adult Diagon Ally. The cast are superb - although at times Luke Goss is weak. Furthermore, one problem is the dialogue sometimes is weak- almost where it's been translated out of context- it's nowhere near Pan's Labyrinth excellence but it's a fun romp and for 3 pounds it's a bargain

 Oh crap!!!!

The first one had so much potential. A funny sarcastic main character, a good story and great special effects but the dialogue in the script let it down. This however is what the first one could have been. Hellboy is way funnier than in the first one and liz is pretty funny too. Watch out for family guys seth macfarlane as he voices the german robot. Much better than the first

I'm a huge fan of the Hellboy films and In fact hellboy aka Red is one of my favourite comic book hero's. The films captures everything that you can imagine the world of fantasy would be, it's got the most amazing monsters and creatures throughout every single film and it's almost impossible to think that Guillermo Del Torro could ever out-do the previous film, yet he continues to do so..
The scene in Hellboy II: The Golden Army with the troll market is unbelievable; I watched the troll market tour and pre-production on the special features disc and its jaw dropping. The way that everything is designed right from the initial brainstorm paper sketches to the production of each scene and creature, along with the CGI effects is astonishing.
It would be so hard to choose which film I prefer out of the 2 because they are both brilliant films, but if I had to, Guillermo Del Torro continues to blow me away with his impressive and wild imagination and so it would be The Golden Army. I loved the whole concept behind the Elf Prince Nuada of the Underworld ("Silverlance") and the Elf Princess Nuala, they create a mix of fantastic fighting scenes full of perfected combat skills along with a touching bond that cannot be broken.
The whole cast play great parts and I think Ron Perlman plays his character perfectly and can't imagine Red being played by anyone else, Selma Blair plays Liz' character really well and her relationship with Red is argumentative, funny and sometimes forgotten, due to red's obsession with cats and himself, yet deep down loving and devoted in their own little ways- If you have not seen The Golden Army yet I wont ruin the end but lets just say I only hope there will be a third Hellboy coming to our screens in the very near future, with even more genius!
