Following on from her guest appearance as Jaime Sommers in The Six Million Dollar Man, Lindsey Wagner so impressed the big-wigs at ABC that they offered her the chance to reprise/resurrect her role in this spin-off series, The Bionic Woman.
Post-parachute accident, Jaime Sommers' chances of survival were not looking good. Steve Austin, realising the potential rehabilitation Jaime could receive, contacted his old boss, Oscar Goldman in an effort to save the life of his high-school sweetheart. As a result of Jaime's surgery, she developed super-human strength, speed and agility, combined with her incredible bionic ear. Although the doctors lost her in the aftermath of the surgery, she was cryogenically frozen and thawed out as soon as they had developed a solution. However, Jaime was to suffer the loss of her memories as a result of the treatment. Now she, like Steve, works for the government taking down any threat to the US, should she be called on...

After my partner made me sit through four episodes of the truly appalling "new" Bionic Woman I was yearning to see something "Bionic". My partner had no idea who Lindsay Wagner was so I treated him and myself to this boxset. The quality of the first two seasons is amazing. The episodes are well written, well acted and feature Jamie Sommers actually doing Bionic things!!! The series are 70's so don't expect too hi-tech effects, but for entertainment this quality of TV can't be beaten. Hang your head in shame Michelle Ryan...
