 Sean Bean's best

Sean Bean was brilliant in Lord of the Rings and he was one of the best Bond villains ever in Goldeneye, but his role as British officer Sharpe is where he really shined. Set in Spain/Portugal during the Napoleonic Wars, this exciting, critically acclaimed, popular and well-written series based on the novels by Bernard Cornwell shows off the best of British film-making, and at £39.99 it is well worth buying.

Being a huge fan of the books, I was sceptical about the films. Sharpe in the books is massive, scar on the face and black hair, with Harper even bigger. However after half the first movie, these issues were soon forgotten. The first movies you can tell were lower budget and not quite up to the standard of the others, but with good acting they got away with it. After the first 2, you see the budget increasing, and with this and a marvellous Hakeswill I really felt a whole new dimension to the novels. Especially at the new price, I highly recommend this series!

I was just in to my teens when Sharpe was first aired on TV, and it was love at first sight with Sean Bean. Now I am able to relive those years all over again!
This box set is absolutely fantastic, and well worth the 39.99 price tag.
I would recommend that every home has this box set in their collection of DVDs. The men can enjoy the historical content and battle scenes. And the women can just enjoy Sean Bean as Sharpe. This is Sean at his best.

 Perfect Series

Im Gonna Keep this simple:-

You like history .... you will love it
You like a good action film with violence............ you will love it

Sharpe is the best thing ITV has ever made (hornblower close 2nd)

well worth the cash

An Excellent Series (but badly made) - Still 5 Stars though!

Positives: It's a superb series - a definite for any collection. Very good value at £30 (when I bought it).
Negatives: The quality of the outer box and no case numbering system.

A superb series and certainly not only for the history enthusiasts. As mentioned by others, my only gripe is the state of the box (tatty at the corners) and that there is no companion booklet to tell you easily which order the series should be in, should you have taken the cases out of the box (it doesn't have any numbering on the dvd cases themselves).
