the visuals in this movie really are of breathtaking beauty with no comparison to any other movie. even if you don't like martial arts, or asian movies as a whole, this surely will give you another opinion because beside all this there's also a beautiful lovestory in it. nothing pathetic, nothing waw but simply beautiful.
this is a movie with the heart of cinema on the right place: intriguing, moving, interesting and (again) beautiful to watch.
make sure you see crouching tiger, hidden dragon also.
Absolutely Breathtaking

This is a whole incredible mixture of genres- Fantasy, romance, action all combined into an excellent film. Set in the emperor days of China (during the Tang Dynasty), the hunt to silence the largest rebels known as 'The House Of Flying Daggers' leads a deputy to arrest a member in the hope that she will lead them to their leader. The scenery, cinematography and fight special effects are wonderful, with a story twisting all the time with a beautiful oriental music as a backdrop. A superb film that deserves its accolades.

Great film with a lot of fight scenes and twists in the plot. A must for the fans of Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon. Given it 4 stars because I expected a bit more.
Stunning piece of cinema

What can I say, as other reviewers have said, this is better than Crouching Tiger, mainly as I feel as the story is stronger and also It has alot better set pieces (Bamboo Forest, Snow Fight, Field fight.)
Overall the film is absolutly fantastic, I remember it being advertised early morning on CH4 and was totally blown away, never went to cinema to see it but as soon as it was released on DVD, the 2DVD version was bought for me as a Birthday gift and is now one of my all time favourite films.
Andy Lau, Takeshi Kaneshiro and Zhang Ziyi give exquisite performances, which is a must in a film that is mainly focused on these 3 characters.
Zhang Yimou offers a story full of romance, heartache and passion for the ladies, whilst still serving more than enough action to keep the men happy.
5/5 a film not to be missed, this also opened my eyes to Takeshi Kaneshiro and I can't wait to see him in his upcoming film Warlords alongside Jet Li and his Daggers co-star Andy Lau.

The film is great, especially with zhang ziyi in it, did great as a blind character, kinda rarely seen in film with such characters, good actions and effect as i expect for a mordern martial art film, heavy story line plot, about betrayal etc....

I agree with the other reviewer - it IS better than Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. The characters are more likeable and the choreography is breathtaking. Zhang Ziyi's character is enigmatic and strong. This film is exciting and the best scene is the fight in the bamboo trees. Very beautiful with a thrilling script.
Dare i say better than Crouching Tiger?

Wow that title may spark off a riot, but i absolutely love this film. Its brilliantly choreographed, have beautiful locations and has a far superior storyline. As previous review stated, it is subtitled, but one you get into it (which takes 5 seconds) you'll forget about that and be immersed in great action, acting and storyline. I'd recommend watching this before Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon and judge it in its own right...and then you'll see why i love this film more!
Very Good Film

At first when You realise that the film is in chienese and English Subtitles, you may be put off.... But don't be, after about 5-10 minutes you get used to it and the film is very interesting and visually stunning.
It wasn't as good as it's predecessor (Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon), but it was certainly almost as good.
Lots of amazing effects involving Martial arts and concepts, very in-depth and devious characters, gets the viewer seriously involved into the film, lots of emotional climaxs throughout and very powerful to watch.
Certainly worth watching.
