The cinema version of Hellboy was a brilliant comic book adaption.
This directors cut is actually better, it is not just a few scene put together to get more cash out of the fans. The scenes a subtle changes, and add to ten minutes in total, but they really do add to the characters.
Credit has to go to visionary director del Toro, as there is no doubt he loves this comic book character, and what he has managed to do with the average budget, is more than Spider-Man 3 could ever wish to do with it's colossal $250,000,000 budget.
If you already own the original version, this is still a must buy, as with the three disc's, two being devoted to bonus features offer an amazing insight into the production of this comic book classic.
The value for money is amazing, and the film is a staggering achievement in fantasy story telling and visionary direction.
This is one hell of a comic book movie!

Hellboy isnt a very well known comic book character but this is the best comic to film adaptation I have seen. The action scenes are exciting and well implemented, and the special effects are great.
If you are a fan of superhero/action films, this is unmissable.

The very best comic book movie. Dark, sinister and very funny. Del Toro has a sequel out soon and then he will turn his eye the adapting The Hobbit. Catch this film first. This DVD is the best option out there.

For those of you considering buying this movie but are a little worried as theres not much publicity around it don't listen.
This is an excellent movie. Very well made , awesome special effects , brilliant plot , great acting. It is one of th best comic movies ever made. After watching this movie the first time I did think it was great. After watching it again and again it has really grown on me. You notice a funnier part or something different every time. I would say you had to be a fan of this sort of stuff though as it is very fantasy/sci-fi.
Big reg gets a thumbs up from me !.

This film is amazing, that is the easiest way to put it.
The special effects in places were a little crappy, and to look a bit funny, but despite that tiny fault this still easily passes for a five star.

Hellboy is a very good film, i like the comic film (fantastic 4, spiderman, the hulk etc) but this is up there at the top! Perfect casting, great acting, great storyline! Whats not to like!? And for £5 for a 3 disc edition!!!! You cant get more right than this Play!!! Excellent value.

I hadn't seen this before but had been told it was a good film and wasn't dissappointed!! Loads of action from this Comic book character and in this 3dvd directors cut you get 12 hours of extra features and hidden extras all for £5.99 which you can pay for the 1 disc edition! Nice one Play a bargain buy!!

What a great film. There are some good comic book adaptations and some bad, BUT this rates amongst the best. Ron Perlman as the red-skin hero is quite superb, a role that he fits perfectly. The bland of comic touches, with romance and cracking special effects made me feel that my money was extremely well spent. A definate good buy!

It comes as little suprise however, for on viewing the extensive special features including a quite simply superb making of doc it appears that, even without the makeup, Ron Perlman is Hellboy. I agree with the director (Guillermo del Toro) that he seems born to play the role.
The movie itself? Well, while not as well known as your Spidermans, Batmans and Supermans, Hellboy is by no means a lesser creation and the movie is one of the better comic book adaptations of recent years. Great FX, good humour, superb characters (Kroenen is pure genius) and a genuine heart under all the paranormal goings-on Hellboy is a triumph, and the 3 disc DVD is a must buy. The extended cut helps flesh out the characters whilst the awesome extras include the aformentioned feature-length documentary, galleries, animatics, commentaries, deleted scenes and lots lots more. You're sure to be in DVD heaven with Hellboy! (sorry about that one...)
