My mum got me into Law and Order and it was enjoyable until she introduced me to Law and Order: Criminal Intent and to Det. Robert Goren (Vincent D'Onofrio). I was hooked on the character from the start. I believe Goren can be described as part Sherlock Holmes, part Columbo but with attitude on a grand scale. D'Onforio brings to the character a quality that I believe no other actor could bring. And, with his fellow star Kathryn Erbe, the partnership ranks with the best ever on television. He is probably best known for playing Leonard 'Gomer Pyle' Lawrence in Full Metal Jacket but has also had parts in JFK, The Cell, Men in Black and also, my all-time least favourite movie, Dying Young. But he will always be remember for his exceptional portrayal of Goren.
