The magic touch of master animator Hayao Miyazaki is visible from start to finish in Laputa: Castle In the Sky, an imaginative tale full of mystery and adventure. The high-flying journey begins when Pazu, an engineer's apprentice, finds a young girl, Sheeta, floating down from the sky, wearing a glowing pendant.
Together, they discover both are searching for the legendary floating castle, Laputa, and vow to unravel the mystery of the luminous crystal around her neck. Their quest won't be easy, however. There are sky pirates, secret agents and monumental obstacles stopping them from discovering the truth - and each other. However, Laputa is more than it appears, and some seek to use it for evil.
Laputa: Castle In the Sky continues Hayao Miyazaki's obsession with air travel, featuring some truly remarkable designs, especially for the floating fortress Laputa itself. It is said that he based a lot of the environments on rural Wales, following his time spent there during the miner's strikes.

Strange but beautiful. Lovely and important sub-plot concerning the ravaging and abuse of our environment.
Usual sweet romance and happy ending.
If you love Ghibli, this is one for your collection.
A compelling and magical film

Castle in the sky has to be one of Hayao Miyazaki's best film he's done with studio ghibli. Its one of the earliest anime films me and my sister watched as kid and we were mesmerized by it. The film for me shows real heart and determination. It has absolutely beautiful landscapes and great imagination which all his films have. It tells the story of girl who has a precious air loom which is a powerful stone and holds the key to the floating castle in the sky.She meets a young boy called Pazu who helps protect her with the pirates that are also after the stone but they don't have bad intensions unlike evil Muska who only wants it to control the world. One of the best scenes in the movie is when a robot comes back to life and destroys an army base which I can always remember. Its a compelling and magical story from start to finish. The only problem I had with this dubbed version was the voices. I preferred the old English voices and felt they suited the characters much more.
