Review

Join the adventures of the quirky Yamada family - from the hilarious to the touching - brilliantly presented in an unique, visually striking comic-strip style.

Takashi Yamada and his wacky wife Matsuko, who has no talent for housework, navigate their way through the ups and downs of work, marriage and family life. Amongst their brood is the sharp-tongued grandmother who lives with them; a teenage son who wishes he had cooler parents; and a pesty daughter whose loud voice is unusual for someone so small. Even the family dog has issues!

I've heard that this is meant to be like a Japanese version of The Simpsons, but I think it's unfair to compare.
It's a little more sophisticated, which may alienate the younger viewer, but this is one of my 6 year olds favorite Ghibli films.
Made up of lots of little 'sketches' that are consistantly funny and true to life.
Not the usual Ghibli animation style, this is looser and more sketche like. I think there were different animation artists too as the style varies in areas, which are noticeable.
An early Ghibli - don't buy it if you're looking for a typical Ghibli, but if you're a real fan you should enjoy this, even though it's quite different.

This is another great example of Studio Ghibli, nothing like any animated film you have ever seen it is like a comic strip come to life and has some really funny bits in it, not for everyone but if you like The Simpsons this'll do it for you

Customer rating: 5 out of 5 stars Funny as

Wasnt really sure about this flm to start off, as its not in typical style of the other Studio Ghibli. I was however very suprised at how good this film was. It isnt a full film like the other in the collecton its more like short storys in a comic book form. One of my fav film from the collection Nxt to only yesterday. Well worth a look at
