As 27-year old Taeko embarks on a holiday to the country she reminiscences about her childhood and journeys back to a time when she was only 15. Taeko recalls the major events that shaped her life into what it is now. In the present, Taoko longs for a change in her humdrum life as an office-worker in Tokyo. When she arrives at her relatives' farm she finds herself attracted to an earnest young farmer. As Taeko flips between the past and the present, she realises that she must make important decisions to ensure her future happiness.

Beautifully evoking both the 1960s and 1980s, Only Yesterday is a double period piece and the quintessential drama of Japanese school-day nostalgia. An animated classic from Studio Ghibli available for the first time ever!

Being a huge fan of anything released by Studio Ghibli and anything involving Hayao Miyazaki for some reason I had never watched this one and all I can say is that this film is one of the most amazing films they have released (easily up there with Howls, Spirited Away and Princess Mononoke). This one is just as magical, yes its a little predictable but I LOVE the way they intermingle the past and present as Taeko thinks about her life when she was 10. If you love Studio Ghibli you HAVE to buy this one, otherwise its a crime against Japanese anime.

Customer rating: 5 out of 5 stars My Favourite Anime Movie Production. Amazing Film

This production was made and aimed at middle-aged female audiences, although its popularity proved to attract more than that. This film was really cute, emotional, and cheerfully epic. It has proven a success along with the other Ghibli titles and was just wonderful to watch.

It really does depend what ones preferences are, but this fit mine perfectly! What is more is that I am just simply an adolescent male. 'tis most definitely one of my favourite films and is also my favourite Studio Ghibli film. It managed to get above Howl's Moving Castle with regards to my favourites.

I personally would highly recommend it, especially if you like drama and looking back on childhood memories.

Very enjoyable and heartfelt. Fans of kikis delivery service, my neighbour totoro and whisper of the heart should definatley see it. Id put it along side the better half of the studio ghibi collection.
