The show was filmed at the Westfalenhalle Arena, Dortmund, Germany during the Dance of Death European Tour in December 2003 and fully captures the magnificent stage production and electricity of the band's performance. Steve Harris once again took four months personally supervising the editing of the footage and, like 'Rock In Rio', this means thousands of cuts right into the heart of the action!

     Sheer brilliance!

This is a masterpiece for all rock fans as the mighty Maiden show us how to perform a proper rock show!
On the back of, what i consider, one of their best albums comes a virtually flawless experience. The show itself brings old classics out to play with the new boys. Songs such as Wrathchild, Can I play with madness, and Hallowed be thy name join effortlessly with new ones like Journeyman, Dance of death (a particular high point for me) and the totally brilliant Paschendale. Buy this DVD! It's a must for anyone who likes their music live, lively and loud!
The extras give you an insight of how rock royalty spend their free time. Fishing, anyone?

Brilliant sound but the editing...... ???? Why ????

I bought this and was eager to pop it in my DVD player and re-live the concert I had enjoyed a few years ago. The concert is flawless - brilliant just as I remembered but the editing has partly ruined it. God knows what Steve Harris was thinking when he put this together - It flicks from camera to camera every 1 - 2 seconds (less than that at times.. no joke) and this is very sickening when you are trying to focus on the band. I can only guess they were trying to make it look more " energetic " but it left me having to pause it and turn away every now and then as I literally felt dizzy. My wife could not watch it as she started getting a headache (nothing new there though) Some slower songs have less rapid camera flipping but the majority of this concert is all over the place. As for sound.... 100% could not be better... Bruce with his unique vocals and Nicko/guitarists performing brilliant as ever all in optional 5.1 which I thought was cracking.... Maybe it's me getting older (been into Maiden since 1985) but I only wish they chose to present it better. As long as you can put up with the fast camera - you will like it. Phil

     I loved it, but....

I love Iron Maiden and I'm going to see them for the third time this July. So I was excited when I finally got this dvd and put it on.

Maiden were as on form as ever and the stageshow wowed me. The only issue I have with this dvd is the choppy editing. I felt that it didn't give me the chance to focus on anything for more than a couple of seconds.

However, aside from this, it's a truly great performance from Maiden

     Great concert, terrible view

It's a brilliant show, you can't deny that. But the editing (by Steve, as it says on the back) is so all over the place it makes you go insane. Aside from that, however, the only complaint is Bruce not talking very much, but that's just me being fussy. It gave loads of the songs whole new meanings for me, and the stage set up and effects are mind blowing.

     great concert.bad editing

This dvd would have got a 5 star rating but the editing has let it down. The concert is superb but because the camera view changes with almost every beat of the drum you can't focus on anything and you lose the whole atmosphere and the visuals of the concert. After a while you find yourself getting dizzy and i ended up with eye strain. This dvd needs to be re-edited.If you want to see a true masterpiece then buy LIVE AFTER DEATH...this is how THE DEATH ON THE ROAD DVD should look. The title actually means what it says...DEATH ON THE ROAD...A HUGE let down.
