The adventure continues...

The newest Indiana Jones adventure commences in the desert in 1957 - the height of the Cold War. After barely escaping a close scrape with Soviet agents Professor Jones returns home to Marshall College only to find that the government have forced the university to fire him.

On his way out of town, Indiana meets rebellious young Mutt (Shia LaBeouf), who has a proposition for the adventurous archaeologist: If he'll help Mutt on a mission with deeply personal stakes, Indy could very well make one of the most spectacular archaeological finds in history - the Crystal Skull of Akator, a legendary object of fascination, superstition and fear.

Aliens! Oh no! Not as plausible as eternal life.

It would seem the bulk of the negative reviews come from people appalled at the notion aliens might have visited an ancient civilization and taught them how to farm, use irrigation and help their technological advances. This is of course far less plausible than a supreme being releasing his wrath from a golden ark to melt Nazis, or a priest who can rip peoples hearts out without killing them, or of course, eternal life.
This Indy features Harrison Ford looking a bit older but perfectly plausible as Indy, Shia LeBouf as Mutt, a young sidekick with an Indy connection, and the return of original leading lady Marion (Karen Allen). Yes there's some CGI, yes there's some insane stunts - once again, nowhere near as plausible as the mining cart rollercoaster of Temple Of Doom or Sean Connery being shot and healing instantly thanks to holy water. I always thought that sort of thing was part of the franchise?
An open mind and a sense of fun should see you enjoy this movie - I don't think it's quite as good as the other three, but then again, not much is.

     escapism at it's best

I am very aware of the science-fiction farce that this film brings to the franchise. Yet even after re-watching the film on a smaller screen, expecting my sheer excitment of seeing indy back on the big screen to subside. I can maintain that this film does exactly what it set out to do, entertain and bring nice ending to the indiana franchise.

This film is an insult to your inteligence.

Indiana Jones fans beware! This film has none of the wit or knowing nods of the original trilogy. Its just like the "newer" star wars films. It tries to be like the older films but consistently falls flat on its stubbly chin. Even my kids failed to enjoy it . Avoid.

After the embarrasing 'Star Wars' prequels I didn't have much hope for this fourth entry in the Indiana Jones series.Being a huge fan of the originals I was surprised by how much I actually enjoyed this.Harrison Ford was again terriffic as Indy,Shia La Beouf brought alot of fresh humour and it was nice to see Karen Allen return as Marion Ravenwood. The only let downs in the film are Cate Blanchette and Ray Winstone who both play the least menacing villains in history! The plot's a little daft but then again so were the originals.A great return for Indy

     Enjoyable

Well, despite being in the minority here, I enjoyed this this film as much as I did the earlier ones. Plenty of the usual action and an unexpected ending. (Inter-dimensional beings, would be non-indigenous, and therefore alien to us; so there). Shame about Cate Blanchett's dreadful voice and make-up, 1 star off for that. Definitely on my buy list.
