So you thought the 2007 FIA Formula One World Championship was close? Well 2008 was unbelievable! After 5,480 kilometres of racing the title was decided in the very last one.

It was Formula One at its very best: Seven drivers won races, from five different teams, while four drivers headed the Championship standings. Kimi Räikkönen wanted to defend his title but it was team mate Felipe Massa who led Ferrari's charge. Robert Kubica emerged as a surprise threat. But it was Lewis Hamilton who got the job done.

Almost four hours of highlights. The best bits of what you saw and all the things you didn't! Eighteen races of high-octane drama that took you to all corners of the world. Formula One's historic first night race in Singapore showed Formula One at its dynamic best.

Nobody could escape misfortune. Watch multiple angles of the dramatic demise and the gripping comeback of each of the title contenders. Experience all the drama from exclusive pit lane footage, unique camera angles and the best from on board action.

Five exclusive features take you up close and personal. Meet the key players in the new Force from India, flip through Fernando Alonso's photo memories and share Lewis Hamilton's Formula One ambitions before he put the dream into reality.

Luck does not come into it...
  • The Return Of Ross Brawn
  • The New Force From India
  • Living The Dream with Sebastian Bourdais

One of the greatest, most dramatic seasons of Formula One ever played out over eighteen rounds including two brand new circuits (in Valencia and Singapore) proved not to be merely a clear cut carve up of race victories purely for leading teams Ferrari and McLaren. With a variety of unlikely podiums across the world, thrills, spills and controversy this years championship had everything you could truly wish for, definitely a sport tale that has a final twist in the tail that you certainly would not expect. The hotly anticipated DVD release of the 2008 season now available for retail purchase presents the entire story, for the first time over two discs with the contents offered in widescreen 5.1 sound format. Aside from a wireframe into static black F1 car background the menus are much more standardised and without looped music this time round. Disc one offers Australia's first round through to Great Britain's ninth round making for a total of 102 mins. You can relive the heartbreak for new team Force India when Ferrari's Kimi Raikkonen ran into the back of Adrian Sutil in Monaco. Remember the mixed fortunes of Canada with Hamilton's unbelievable pit lane accident and the delight of BMW's one-two finish. Although Ferrari's Massa was supremely dominant in Bahrain & Turkey he was very much 'all at sea' in the rain of Silverstone where Hamilton gives a wet weather master class delighting home fans. Taking a look at disc two presents the second half of the season from the German tenth round through to the dramatic, extremely tense season finale eighteenth race in Brazil which fills 105 mins. More notable events during these races include Massa's heartbreak in Hungary which gives McLaren's Kovalainen a welcome lucky first career victory. Youngest ever race winner goes to the impressive performance rendered by Torro Rosso driver Sebastian Vetel in Italy. Personally I loved the glorious nighttime atmosphere of Singapore, a marvellous spectacle where Fernando returns to winning form whilst amazingly it's a no score for Ferrari. The second disc also offers up the five individually selected and played extra items kicking off with 4 ½ mins about "The Return of Ross Brawn". Next we have an approx 4 min item about "The New Force From India". Third item focuses on a driver whom may not be returning for 2009 when we spend 4 mins "Living The Dream With Sebastien Bordais". Now returned to the comfort zone of Renault this title shares "Fernando's Photo Memories" which is again about 4 mins in length. Lastly, and most curiously we have a 2006 GP2 series interview with Hamilton which at almost 4 ½ mins goes under the title of "Lewis Goes Back To The Future". As 2008 marks the last season for Scotland's David Coulthard I, like I guess a lot other race fans, are a tad disappointed that there wasn't an item on his career however, aside from the Canadian podium, it's certainly be a rather difficult season for this driver. This minor omission aside this is an excellent title which delivers all you could wish for in a visual record of such an unpredictable racing year in Formula One and is well worth having!

 Good but.........

I have all the reviews since 93. and this one just seems a bit off. It is a very long review, which is good dont get me wrong, but theres a lot of rubbish which has nothing to do wit racing. i mean who cares about that.

The year its self, was an exceedingly good year. As so much went on. Being british its quite obvious who i wanted to wibn (when the year was playing out obviously) but that also goes with that from the person commentating. I mean it was blind clear he wanted lewis to win which just feels off to me as it was never like that in the previous yrs reviews.

Also on a personal note, i did feel the review was poor on one of the most amazing drives that yr, being monza, where vettel won with that rubbish torro rosso. Yet he seems to get the least mention about the race than anyother race winners that yr. Which i just thought was bad given that was without question the most unexpected wins of the season.

Also, at the comment below mine (time permitting), that was very sly slating massa that yr. Both drivers deserved it, and from everyone i know on f1, reckon he held himself with great dignity after losing the title in brazil. unlike yrself.

Thanks

 what a year

 Oh the Irony!!

Was killing myself laughing at the reviews for this DVD especially the comment "Luck does not come into it!!!" lol no race fixing @ singapore by N.Piquet Jnr comes into it and with Massa now bumping his gums about lost championship because of it (which is ironic as i remember him driving off with his fuel rig attached so not sure how he was planning on winning the Grand Priz with that still attached) Anyhow this DVD is worth buying for just to watch Ferrari's reaction as Massa crosses the line in Brazil only then to realise Lewis had won it after all.....Classic
