Seen through the eyes of a squad of American soldiers, the story begins with World War II's historic D-Day invasion, then moves beyond the beach as the men embark on a dangerous special mission. Captain John Miller (Tom Hanks) must take his men behind enemy lines to find Private James Ryan, whose three brothers have been killed in combat. Faced with impossible odds, the men question their orders. Why are eight men risking their lives to save just one? Surrounded by the brutal realities of war, each man searches for his own answer - and the strength to triumph over an uncertain future with honour, decency and courage.

i'm not the biggest war movie fan, but i dont know if its just because i'm a fan of tom hanks, or if its just because its just such an amazing film, i can not recommend this film enough.

Being a fan of WWII games, movies basially anything to do with WWII, I jumped at the chance to actually sit down and watch Saving Private Ryan. I had heard it was an epic and decided to order it off Play. This movie is so graphic and the story is very very strong indeed. The effects are awesome and at times very gruesome. You can definitely see where video games like Call of Duty: World at War got it's inspirations from. The acting is superb with the likes of Tom Hanks and Matt Damon playing big roles in it. Saving Private Ryan has one of the best endings in my opinion and is a down right classic. Get this move if you're a fan of WWII movies or like the WWII Call of Duty games.

 Epic, Awesome, Unbelievibly good

i had to do a GCSE media analysis on this film and i was luckly enough to see it the entire way through a few days later and it instantly became one of my favorite films ever.
The movie doesnt glorify war like some films do, it really gets across the gore and shocks that war has, letting you feel as if you're atually there at some points in the film.
If you have not seen this film then you really are missing out because it is definately a must see film.

 Best War Movie Ever

Steven Spielberg deservedly won an OSCAR for best director for the film and when you watch it, you can see why. The opening D-Day sequence is one of the best scenes in movie history. The story is unique, interesting and gets you thinking about what ordinary men are asked to do in a time of war. The acting is fantastic, the action scenes are superb and also the film is a perfect length. This is defiantly the greatest war movie ever made and one of the greatest films of all time.
