McLintock (Dir. Andrew V. McLaglen, 1963): Cattle baron, banker, and model citizen George McLintock has the world in his hands. The only thing missing is his wife, Katherine, who left him two years earlier, suspecting him of adultery.
In an effort to get on with his life, McLintock saves a beautiful but impoverished widow from resettlement and hires her as his cook, welcoming both her and her two children into his home. Sparks begin to fly and McLintock's simple and serene lifestyle comes to a crashing halt as an unexpected turn of events results in brawls, gunfire, an Indian attack, the engagement of his only daughter and the return of Mrs. McLintock!
Angel And The Badman (Dir. James Edward Grant, 1947): A notorious gunslinger is wounded in a shootout and nursed back to health by a Quaker family. The daughter's love convinces him to reform, but not before he finds the man who killed his father.
Hell Town (Dir. Charles Barton, 1937): This early John Wayne movie made in 1937 finds the Duke playing opposite his fellow western star, John Mack Brown, as cattle-driving cousins Dare Rudd and Tom Fillmore. No love is lost between them, especially when Dare falls for Tom's girl, but they discover a new found respect for each other after joining forces against cattle rustlers and card sharps.
Sagebrush Trail (Dir. Armand Schaefer, 1933): After being wrongfully imprisoned for murder, John Brant (John Wayne) escapes and flees West to join a gang of outlaws. He soon discovers his new friend, Jones (Lane Chandler), committed the murder he was imprisoned for. Brant seeks to clear his name and combat Jones' interest in the pretty shop girl.
His Private Secretary (Dir. Mack V. Wright & Phil Whitman, 1933): John Wayne plays Dick Wallace the son of a businessman, in this romantic comedy about a man who thinks life is for living and a girlfriend who believes it's time he settled down with a respectable job. The respectability of a job isn't that difficult for Dick, as his father (Reginald Barlow) has always wanted him to work in the family business although the settling down part could be a problem.
