The Formula One season of 2005 ushered in a new dawn as the imperous Michael Schumacher was dethroned from the Driver's Championship for the first time in years. Ferrari's positon of dominance was brought crashing down to earth with the emergence of Renualt and Mclaren as the forerunners of the sport.

The Championship battle came down to two men, Fernando Alonso and Kimi Raikkonen, trading blows through out the season. However Alonso's impressive start to the season always kept him far enough away from Raikkonen and ultimately proved decisive. As the curtain came down on a memorable season Alonso was crowned the youngest ever winner of the F1 Championship.
