Covert intelligence operative Michael Westen has been punched, kicked, chocked and shot. Now he's being burned, and someone's going to pay!

When Michael receives a "burn notice", blacklisting him from the intelligence community and compromising his very identity, he must track down a faceless nemesis without getting himself killed in the process. Meanwhile, Michael is forced to double as a private investigator on the dangerous streets of Miami in order to survive. Fully loaded with sly humour, Burn Notice is a fresh spin on the spy genre with plenty of precarious twists to keep you guessing and enough explosive action to keep you rivited!

I first saw this advertised on FX UK and thought to my self "Thats got potential" so i watched first episode. My god am I glad I did! When it started i was not expecting much as I'd never herd of the actors, it had an odd title, plus the brief description i got from sky didn't sound great. Now I do't want to give the story away, so all i'l say is tht it's good. The main character "Michael Western" is great. He gives an insights into his life as a spy through out from the narative and manages to be witty with it too. His acompises "Sam" and "Fiona" are equaly as reat but in different ways, Fiona isan ex IRA operative and sam is an ex spy also. The series has action, comedy, a good light hearted story line and a love aspect to it, if thats what you want... The parts are well acted and i'm adicted, I'd recomend it to anyone. It's also still on FX on a sunday at 10 if you want a taster...

A great start to a new series

This is a great series and I am so glad that someone at work recommended it to me.

It sees the main character Michael, who is a spy, get "burn notice", basically axed as a spy, and dropped off in Miami, with all of his assets frozen and no chance of leaving sunny, sandy Miami. Through out this whole season we see Michael trying to find the people who "burnt" him. However with no money and no ability to get a job, he helps people with situations that others cannot, with the assistance of his two friends from his now former spy days. We have Fiona, the trigger happy ex-girlfriend, who was a terrorist in Ireland and is very good with guns and explosives, and Sam, an ex-navy seal, who is now enjoying the good life in Miami. This trio works really well together, not only as a team in the series, but also as three characters that provide a lot of comic relief throughout very action packed episodes. We also find out a lot about Michael and his past as his mother, Madeline, lives in Miami, along with his childhood home. We see how being a spy affects your family but at the same time she is extremely funny.

One of the other great things about this series is that Michael explains a lot of what he is trying to do in each episode, such as how and why he is planning on doing something, or how he is making something, such as an explosive charge using things around the house, which is great as I wouldn't have a clue what was happening otherwise. This is done in a very clever way as a voice over from Michael as if he is thinking it. This really adds to the story as it helps us non-spies know what is going on and I feel like I am understanding how to be a spy, I now know how to evade someone who is following me in a car and other such useful tips.

The story lines are easy to follow, each episode usually sees Michael helping someone with the over arching story through out the season of who burnt Michael. The great thing is that each episode has lots of action and usually something being blown up. There is no confusion of what is happening in this series, no great purpose where everyone is actually dead or we won't tell you what everything means until season 10 million by which point you will be bored and frustrated, this is a TV series that is going back to the basis of being a TV series, that is being an entertaining 45 minutes of TV once a week. After each episode and I can't wait to watch the next one, because I want to, not because I have to in order to understand the big picture.

Two big thumbs up from me and I would recommend this one to any of my friends.

Spies don't get fired, they get burned.

"Fully loaded with sly humour, burn notice, is a fresh spin on the spy genre with plenty of twists to keep you guessing and enough explosive action to keep rivited!"

I couldn't agree more, bored one night flicking through my tv channels and came across burn notice, and wow! I was so glad i stumbled across this i only watched 15 mins and then raced to play.com to buy it. I think it is really worth a watch and at 17.99 for 528 minutes of action packed greatness. Barging. Grab it while it's hot
Looking forward to the next series

I had never heard of either of the two lead actors but they do a fine job. Miami is a great back drop and it is a spy theme rather then the usual drug lords. Sharon Glass, Micheals chain smokin Mom, is very odd for an American show. The Yanks are so anti smoking its unreal. It works though. On the negative side Fi's Irish accent is dropped when it dawns on the producers that it is too overpowering an the jury is out in my book on Bruce Campbell and drama acting?? But all in all very good. Makes you want to go get a Mojito right now.

This was recommended to me by a friend. I'd never heard of it previously.
Girlfriend and I both sat glued to every episode, now waiting for Season 2.
Great characters, humour and plot. Don't miss it.
