Bought this recently as a present for an elderly relative. I ended up watching it aswell & was blown away buy it. No wonder it won so may Oscars (11 in total I think). This is probably the late Charlton Heston's finest film (ahead of Planet of the Apes & The Ten Commandments). & who can forget the infamous Chariot Race (the most expensive film sequence filmed for it's time). A true Epic & one that will continue to live long in the memory. 5 Stars all round!!
An all time great

Now, i was forced to watch this by my gran, and i will say it is probably the best thing she ever did for me. One of only 3 films ever to win an amazing 11 oscars, and is far better than Titanic and on par with Return of the king. Made in a time when special effects were kept to a minimum, this film is full of them, look out for the charriot race. Far better than other films of the same genre such as spartacus. A reccomended watch for all classic film lovers.
