I had this for a couple of months before I sat down to finally watch it, thinking it wouldn't be that good. How wrong I was! This is a fantastic, funny, keenly observed film about a washed-up Hollywood star, well past his prime, who finds himself deservedly out of work. His agent promises him a Shakespeare 'comeback' in Stratford-Upon-Avon...but when he arrives he discovers it's a different stratford, and the rehearsals and performance will be from a poorly converted barn! Superb acting, great script, and truly one of Burt Reynolds finest ever acting roles. He is sublime in this. A MUST-SEE comedy, that the whole family can enjoy. The last ten minutes or so will have you in tears. This is better than The Full Monty and Four Weddings and a Funeral. Certainly the best British comedy in a long, long time. Loved it!

I saw this on a plane on a tiny screen, & as soon as I got home I bought it. It's a great film with a superb cast and a funny but sensible plotline. Therefore although the film has lots of 'laugh aloud' moments, it also has some depth and a proper storyline. A good film for re-watching by yourself, or for a 'movie night' with friends.

I loved this film, expecting nothing from it and having seen the recent films in my local blockbuster I took this one. It moves at a great pace and has some very funny moments in it. The film centres around a washed up movie star arriving in the UK to star in a play at stratford upon avon when he is actually booked into a small village theatre to play in an amdram version. The film has some very funny set pieces and fantastic dialogue. The film itself is made on a low budget with alot of the money going on the cast, a wonderful investment as all the cast simpley shine and Burt Reynalds is on top for and delivers some brilliant deadpan put downs. The film is soon over and like most brilliant comedy movies leaves you wanting more . Great for a saturday evening in
