The worst film i've ever seen!! The guy who played Mr Darcy was ok, but everyone spoke to fast and spoiled the whole point of the story!! If you want to watch Pride and Prejudice, watch the version with Colin Firth and Jennifer Ehle....plus this film cuts out a lot!!

Top 100 DVD Reviewer

Now don't get me wrong, I love Austen, and I adore period movies but I dont ordinarily like Keira Knightley, however, I LOVE this film!! Keira does play her role really well, Im not saying I have converted to being a fan of hers, but I really love this film!! I adore P&P and this is the best adaptation ever!! Great location filming, great cast and so well done Joe!

'Do u dance Mr Darcy?...Not if I can help it!'....'I could more easily forgive his vanity had he not wounded mine'......'Your arogance, your conceit, your selfish distane for the feelings of others, made me realise u were the last man on earth I could ever be preveiled upon to marry!'

Customer rating: 5 out of 5 stars ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT!!!!!!!

I am a large fan of Jane Austen's work and was delighted when my aunt bought me the DVD for christmas! I have watched Pride & Prejudice countless times and I am not sick yet! The love/hate relationship between Lizzie Bennett and Mr Darcy made my heart flutter with emotion after her brief encounter at the end. Do buy it; BRILLIANT film!!!

I loved it, keria knightly plays such a brilliant part! Could watch it again and again and would recommend! Even though it is quite a long film it keeps you glued to the tele every minute. I think the english version is better than the bollywood one, but the bollywood one is more modern and colourful. One word Great.

Pride and Prejudice is a warming movie for girls who love romance. It is a watchable film and you could watch it over and over again without getting bored. When Elizabeth first meets Mr. Darcy she repects him very much, but as he reviews her as a unpretty girl she comes across, self-opinion and trys to keep her distance from him. Jane, also grew attached to Mr. Bingley who also had a strong affection for her. His sister soon realises that they are not meant to be together so she decides that they will return to town. They leave very suddenly.
In the end, Jane marrys Charles Bingley and Elizabeth becomes engaged with Mr. Darcy.
This is a film that you cannot miss!!!!!!!!!

P & P is my favourite book and I think that Joe Wright has made a decent job of it. The cinematography was very good and also the whole atmosphere of the era. Matthew M was fine as Darcy, playing him just a little too shy and insecure though. Keira K however is not a great Elizabeth and I'm sure there are many more talented young actresses out there who despair that she always gets the plum roles! She seems to play Elizabeth like a giggly teenager. (Wright finally gets a decent performance out of her in Atonement). Well worth watching for Austen fans but most will return to the beloved BBC Colin F/Jennifer E version for their regular dose of Darcy.

Certainly good enough to introduce Austen and the classics to a new audience. Knightley gives a good performance, but why she was nominated for the oscar beats me. Darcy comes over as a sensitive shy kind of guy. It is a beautiful film, set and costume wise but if you like this you must get the BBC Colin Firth version. This is not a patch on that really, but it shouldn't really be compared, given that remains the benchmark for Austen dramatisation in my books.

This is a gorgeous film. Yes, minor things have been missed out or skimmed over, but they can't include everything in the two hour running time, and it doesn't hinder the story! It you compare it rigidly with the book, you are bound to be disappointed.
As for comparing it to the BBC adaptation, it's not fair to do so - it is nearly three hours longer after all!
As a film in it's own right, it is brilliant. It looks beautiful (the scenery, the costumes), the performances are great (the two leads are perfect in their roles) and the dialogue is very witty and funny, in the true spirit if Jane Austen.
This is a fresh, touching and very enjoyable adaptation of the classic novel. Anyone who likes romance, mixed with drama and a dose of comedy, will like this!
