Review

American Dad! (from Family Guy creator, Seth MacFarlane) is the animated story of Stan Smith, who works for the CIA and is constantly on the alert for terrorist activity. Stan will go to extremes to protect his beloved America from harm - as evidenced by the terror-alert color code on his fridge, and his frequent knee-jerk reaction of shooting holes in the toaster whenever the toast pops up.

In addition to Stan's wife and teenage children, the Smith household has two rather unconventional members; there's Roger the sarcastic space alien who Stan rescued from Area 51 (resenting the fact he's not allowed to leave the house) and Klaus, a lascivious German-speaking goldfish, the result of a CIA experiment gone seriously wrong!

Customer rating: 4 out of 5 stars Different to family guy

This is a very funny, entertaining show. It is unlike family guy in that the jokes in this aren't random, they don't cut away to a past experience of something stupid like family guy. Watch out for roger the alien or klaus the goldfish, they are the two best characters of the show

Customer rating: 5 out of 5 stars Not just random, jokes that actually move the plot along!

I'm soooooo sick of people talking about family guy when american dad gets mentioned. They both have their place, if you have a low attention span and have a simple sort of humour then family guy is for you. If you like plot and character development and something a little more intelligent that doesn't have to cut away every few seconds like the time I got caught in a blender *cut to pointless blender scene* then go for american dad. I have every box set they have out so far and it's odd as they mix up the series episodes and miss out ones completey but they turn up in another box set. Odd way of doing it but as long as I get all of them I'm not fussed. Stop comparing the two and just enjoy each of them for their individual merits. The first series is the best for me though - current, intelligent and very individual.

American dad is waaaaaaaaaaay funnier than family guy, more grown up and less sketchy (family guy always cut away to some degrading/george bush/taliban type sketch to draw a few laughs)
Honestly american dad tops the bill!!
