The Dead have waited. The day has come.

The walking dead have taken over the world and only a small band of the living survive. This motley group of scientists and soldiers are barricaded in an abandoned missile silo where the chief scientist is conducting grotesque research experiments to find a way of controlling the ravenous, marauding Zombies. Tensions meanwhile become intolerable especially when the self appointed psychotic military leader discovers that some of his soldiers have been used as guinea pigs in the zombie experiments. A last ditch battle results in the 'darkest day of horror the world has ever known'.

Outnumbered 500,000 to 1, the last of humanity huddle together in a missile silo, the irony being they can't use their ultimate weapon to destroy the threat above them.
It is to Romeo's eternal credit that budget restrictions have enabled him to make this one of the bleakest films ever made. There is truly no hope for the increasingly deranged group of scientists and soldiers who are at each others throats more than the flesh eaters above.
As in any film that deals with an extraordinary threat to humanity, be it zombies, aliens, or disease; the threat is usually there to reveal the best and worst in mankind. In Day Of The Dead the zombies appear the most human which tells us alot about Romeo's thoughts about Reagan's America in the early 80s.

This movie still leads the way when it comes to zombie horror movies, The story maybe simple but it's played out really well with a good cast and is directed brilliantly by George Romero making it still his best ever movie. There are bucket loads of hardcore gore and blood in the film which still even compared to today's standards does not look dated. A must have for the ultimate horror collection.

This is the sequel that all Zombie fans were waiting for.
But how could this film beat Dawn Of The Dead ?
It can't , you can't beat perfection!
The make-up effect's out-do anything Dawn did, but the script is not as sharp and the characters are not as well written, or as easy to like, But the gore is fantastic, limbs get bitten/cut off to realistic fashion. The acting again is very basic, to say the least. But that's not the point, this was never going to win any oscars for acting. But if you want a Zombie horror at the final days of the apocalypse this is never beaten. This is a brilliant addition to a excellent blood soaked Zombie Legacy, and also chews up and spits out the lame 2007 remake!

I gotta say that this is my favourite Dead movie out of the original trilogy! So many people say how much Dawn Of The Dead is the best Zombie flick ever, not me. This is by far the best out of the original 3 movies. The tension is high, the mood is bleak and the gory effects are aboslutely fantastically minging!!! This is the darkest Dead movie.
For £4.99 you can't really grumble!
Go get it Bubs!!!
