As the devoutly single Don Johnston (Murray) is dumped by his latest girlfriend (Delpy), he receives an anonymous pink letter informing him that he has a son who may be looking for him.

Don is urged to investigate this "mystery" by his closest friend and neighbour Winston (Jeffrey Wright), an amateur sleuth and family man. Hesitant to travel at all, Don nonetheless embarks on a cross-country trek in search of clues from four former flames (Frances Conroy, Jessica Lange, Sharon Stone, and Tilda Swinton). Unannounced visits to each of these unique women hold new surprises for Don as he haphazardly confronts both his past and, consequently, his present...

 A real gem

Ok, so this film is not what you call fast paced (and it never claims to be), but contrary to what BritneyDies' felt, it is never boring.
Perhaps one of Jim Jarmusch's more accessible films it is a really solid, enjoyable film with some really great characters, and of course Bill murray with all his deadpan charm.
My only complaint with this film is that sometimes the editing can seem a little 'forced', but other than that a great film, perhaps more worthy of 4 stars, but I felt it deserved 5 to counter the 1 star review.

Saw it about 2yrs ago and really liked it... It's gentle and moving - no big dramas, nice and subtle. Bill Murray is very watchable as always.

 Goes nowhere!

I know this only cost me £2.99 but I would rather have had a vodka and tonic than watched this film. The plot sounded good but you are left wondering where the film is going or where it has gone.
Just like 'Lost In Translation' this film goes nowhere; there is no 'ending', it just stops. I was waiting (all the way through) for something to happen and it never did, all the film suceeds in doing is making you feel depressed and I can watch the news for free if I want to feel like that.
The acting is not bad, it's just tired; Murray has about 2 facial expressions all the way through (puzzled and sad).
Waste of 1 hour 43 minutes of my time!
