Outlander

Fantastic and original sci-fi movie with some lavish special effects and cool monsters, lots of action, good fun movie with a great cast of characters, it certainly has a more original and imaginative plot than most sci-fi films.

Outlander, great film, good action. The creature they have to kill is amazing. Now i would love to see this film in blu-ray.

I was put off buying it due to the number of bad reviews it has been given so I hired it instead. I'm glad I did watch it as I really enjoyed it. Alien meets 13th Warrior is how I would describe the film. Don't think too deeply about the story line and forgive the iffy fx and watch it for what it is, an over the top action/sci-fi movie. I enjoyed it and will happily watch again.

Entertaining movie filled with plenty of slice and dice, and some good acting by all save for the charmless leading man who pretty much plodded through this movie, and was really the only let down. Special effects were excellent as were the locations, and the supporting cast were enthusiastic and was nicely hammed up.

I can't see how anyone would rate this film so highly, but neither does it deserve a "one star" rating. Its an ok film, nothing more. And this from someone who doesn't take films too seriously (unless of course they're SUPPOSED to be taking seriously!). Outlander is, as has been mentioned before, really very much a mix of 13th Warrior, Aliens, a bit of predator I suppose and maybe even Beowulf. THe thing that annoyed me the most is the film does not try to be better than average. It could have gone much further, yet whether the budget ran out of the writers got bored after the initial excitement I don't know. Its worth a watch if you like Sci-fi action but I really cannot see many people watching the credits and looking fwd to seeing it again anytime soon as they found it so amazing. BUT what I would say is that it's great to see Sci-fi action still going strong as for a while in the 2000's it was a bit of a barren landscape.
