Afraid of the dark? You will be!

When a young group of female friends go on a climbing expedition they find a lot more than they bargained for. Lost in a cave, off the maps, they encounter a race of barely human cannibalistic subterraneans who are very, very hungry...

This is certainly one of the best monster horror movies ever made, it has a perfect cast of girls who are all brilliant, and the story is so original and fun. The creatures themselves are freaky as hell and are one set of evil mutants that you wouldn't want to bump into running around deep underground in a cave. This movie will have you gasping for breath if you're claustrophobic. Worth every penny at any cost.

Although beautifully shot and very atmospheric, The Descent follows 'the' chased-by-monsters formula to the letter. There's nothing here you haven't seen before. And unfortunately, the cave-dwelling monsters are the least scary beasts I've ever seen: imagine Gollum, played by a kids' TV presenter, wearing some plastic vampire teeth.

Such a shame. This had great promise written all over it but ended up being a bit of a mess (and that's no reference to the gore!). We start with a bit of female bonding at the beginning which did nothing except cause me to reach for the remote. Fast forward to the cave and we had to wait until the final third for the games to begin. If you suffer from motion sickness stay well away as the camera work is frantic to say the least. What about the end? I was glad it came!! Stick to Marshall's other effort, Dog Soldiers. Far better than this rubbish!

After reading reviews and watching trailers, i bought this film due to the fact that i looked terrifing, but it really wasnt, the film is extremly slow starting off,it takes an hour for anything to actually happen, and when it does, its not brillient, its jumpy in places, and is very well shot, but it didnt feel like a horror watching it, this is worth a fiver, but if your looking for some real scare's, i suggest going for somthing else.
