This is a truely amazing story for it's time. Well scripted and cast. A very dark tale of the very beginings of the Daleks. Micheal Wisher's portrayal of Davros is electrifying he almost steals the show, were it not for the very strong perfomances from the rest of the cast. Tom Baker is at his very best in this story. A must have!

One of the darkest episodes ever. This is the best ever Doctor Who story ever made and who, pardon the pun can agree with "Mary Whitehouse". No one because these episodes are the darkest ever made and Mary and her cronies were not impressed. This is a must buy for any Doctor Who fan.

Customer rating: 5 out of 5 stars probably the best classic Doctor Who ever

This is a fanastic story, great plot...great characters...great everything

this story is the first to feature Davros - setting the stage for the next 4 dalek stories (which, compared to this, are not very good)

Customer rating: 5 out of 5 stars A great tale from the golden age of "Who"!

This is a simply fantastic serial, with Tom Baker forever taking his place as THE Doctor, facing a moral conundrum unlike any other in Doctor Who's history!

Baker, as ever, is superb as the Doctor. Sladen also provides a solid back-up and gives a terrific performance in her own role in the story. Michael Wisher gives a terrific performance as Davros also, a representation that sadly I do not believe Terry Molloy lived up to.

The main reason you should buy this however, is the story. I imagine this is due mostly to the talents of Terry Nation, but the story, to quote a later incarnation of the Doctor, is "Fantastic!". There is intrigue and excitement around every corner, resulting in a story well worth your attention!

The DVD extras, so as not to disappoint, are also extremely good. It is rare that a commentary from the actor playing the Doctor comes along, and "The Dalek Tapes" are also an excellent feature for fans of the classic (and even modern) era!

One of the best Doctor Who stories in existence. Tom Baker shines in the role of the Doctor and Michael Wischer is top level creepy as Davros; creator of the Daleks. Just goes to show what would happen if Stephen Hawking went bad!!!!! My only gripe is that the Daleks seem more advanced than in previous stories but hey, you can't have everything.

This story is not only well written. The whole production is Brillant. With Tom Baker at the front of it all.

It works on many levels, but what works well is the relationships between the Doctor, Sarah and Harry and you feel something for all 3.

At the same time lurking behind them is a villian of all Villians. Davros mad and bad and the creator of the Daleks and its this piece of genious writing that makes this story truly worth watching.

Doctor who was ground breaking in the 70's as it is now and I would urge any fan of the new to watch this. Because its pure gold and worth the purchase and to keep.

firstly, the extras are superb. the documentary is a joy, with stories about behind the scenes, and interesting ones such as a few episodes in, the iron cross on davros's right hand man disappeared, due to its nazis overtones!.then there is the programme itself. micheal wisher easily being the best davros ever.the guy method acted, by blinding himself by putting a bag over his head in rehearsals! the sets, the acting, all brilliantly superb, with a cracking story. it all puts todays doctor who to shame!

Any fan of Doctor Who or the Daleks is going to want to buy this. This is a classic Doctor Who story which sees the Doctor in the appearance of Tom Baker travel back t the time when th eDaleks were first created and there wrestle with the dilemma of whether or not to destroy them before they even start. A classic philosophical dilemma for the Doctor.
This is the story that also introduced the character of Davros for the first time, a character that was to prove so popular he woudl return ever after each time that the Daleks did for the remainder of the classic series.
Buy it, voted best Doctor Who story of all time.

One of the best, if not the very best Doctor Who story of all times! The story paints a bleak picture of war, grimy and dirty. The nazi undertones of the Kaleds are not particularly subtle, but do work rather well in explaining the nature of the daleks.
A wonderful script, great cast, notably Michael Wisher as Davros, and the best doctor-companion relationship Elisabeth Sladen and Tom Baker, makes for a truly gripping story.
Unlike the previous video release of this story you don't get 'The Sontaran Experiement' with it free! You now have to pay for it!!!
