Review

Journey into a world of hope and discovery with the sumptuous adaptation of David Almond's acclaimed, award-winning novel. A young boy discovers a strange, winged creature hidden amongst the shadowy cobwebs of his decayed garden shed.

Together with his new friend Mina, Michael befriends this extraordinary being whilst his baby sister clings to life in an incubator. But Skellig is far more than he seems and his presence will change Michael's life, and the lives of his family, forever. Featuring an all-star cast, Skellig is a magical and inspiring tale of friendship told with a compassion and sensitivity that won't fail to touch your heart.

this is the kind of film you either love or hate and i loved it the book was brilliant and the movie does comment the book
How a boy feels pushed out but it takes his newly born sister to come to death for him to realise just how much he really does love his family
And how a friendship between different people can really become a strong bond
How skellig hates his life and a boy in distress makes him realise he really is needed and is loved.

Customer rating: 4 out of 5 stars Lovely and heartwarming

I usually steer clear of 'family' films, and to be honest the only reason I watched this is because of John Simm. But it really moved me and yes, I cried (and I rarely cry, I'm very cynical hee hee).
The acting is wonderfully naturalistic, the script and plot are moving and well written and you really feel for all the characters, even the secondary and background ones.

There are a couple of swear words for those of you who don't want your children to hear that, but to be honest they know all the words and more so why not buy this and sit down with the kids. I'd suggest they were at least 10 or so, just so they can follow the plot rather than asking you every 5 minutes about what is happening.
Also watch if you're like me and a big Simm fan.

Oh, a final point. I'm NOT a Tim Roth fan, not at all. But I really liked him in this, very good.
