ok, so it had great effects, battle scenes and an interesting story with a good twist.............but there wasnt enough depth to the characters as there were so many main ones. i love these type of films but for some reason it just didnt pull together for me. ide advise watching mongol instead, sorry
I agree with all the above, this film has depth, if your looking for a martial arts films like one armed boxer or drunken master plays tiddley winks! Then this not for you, the film is well acted, well Directed. I was surprised at Jet Li's preformance and also slightly moved at the end. The battle scenes are amazing, but the story as a whole distracts from them and leaves you with one major lesson never trust politicians
This war epic is something to behold - it's a brutal film about fraternity and love, an odd combo that works as an effective action/drama. It's hardly original, but manages to always hold your interest. It's never overly stylised, but carries a slick representation and it's clear this was made with a passion for the subject matter. Fans of epics, martial-arts and strong acting should check this out. It often falls into familiar territory, but if anything, it's only emulating the best of its genre and that's by no means a bad thing.
In years gone by films like this would probably been dubed, which if you've seen any of these you'll know how ridiculous these movies used to be, i thank our lucky stars that films are in general made with authentic dialog.
This film 'the warlords' is both colourfull and dynamic, with really good battle scenes and a really good story-line.
'Jet li' plays a 'warlord' who by battle victories strives to unite a nation, at the height of his success however his friendships come under pressure.
This is a great action movie that is easy to follow by way of stunning visuals, the sub-titles become secondary to your enjoyment factor..............may get the 'blu-ray' version at some point in the future...............worth both watching and buying.
Wow! Jet li always manage's to astound me. I really enjoy the chinease/asian movie's, it give's it a sense of class. A beutifully choreographed movie such as other's of this type. The story, scenery and actor's are amazing, i really enjoyed the battle scene's too. An all out outstandingly beautiful movie from start to finnish.
