The Transporter (2002): Rules are made to be broken!

Ex-Special Forces operator Frank Martin lives what seems to be a quiet life along the French Mediterranean, hiring himself out as a mercenary "transporter" who moves goods - human or otherwise - from one place to another. No questions asked.

Carrying out mysterious and sometimes dangerous tasks in his tricked-out BMW, Martin finds his latest assignment could well be his last after his package is revealed to be a beautiful woman (Shu Qi) at the centre of a human trafficking ring...

Produced by Luc Besson, this insanely entertaining action flick features a pumped-up Jason Statham commanding in the lead role (see him deflect an anti-personnel missile using nothing more than a tray!) with sultry Taiwanese beauty Shu Qi holding her own in Corey Yuen's extravagantly choreographed action sequences.

The Transporter 2 (2005): The best in the business is back in the game...

Professional driver (and ultimate mercenary) Frank Martin (Statham) is now living in Miami, where he is temporarily filling in for a friend as the chauffeur for a government narcotics control policymaker and his family. When the young boy in the family is kidnapped and Frank is implicated in the crime, it's time to hit the road to preserve his professional reputation, outwit the pursuing cops and expose the kidnappers using any and all explosive methods at his disposal!

YOUNG DUMB AND FULL OF FUN!

These are great blokes movies, that contain little to tax the brain, but for balls to the wall comic book action these guilty pleasures are hard to beat. Statham is perfectly cast as the Transporter, and turns out to be a lethal weapon when double crossed. Both films contain nothing much in the story lines, but for a film that mainly consists of guns, bare knuckle fights, car chases hot women and more guns, the films do register high on the pleasure meater.
The first film is slightly better than the bigger budget second, but both are a load of very silly dumb fun, Just sit back and lap up the sillness, as a car manages to spin upside down to dislodge a bomb on the underside, also in this kind of movie, wooden doors are the perfect shield against bullets. This film is the perfect pizza and a six pack escapism, so sit back and lap up every dumb minute!

Don't get me wrong i like a good dumb action movie like the next man, that's the sole reason i got it. this had a few moments but the cartoon bad guys and the female lead made it seems like a cheap wannabe Jerry Bruckheimer Style Movie. Just didnt do it for me, didn't bother watching part 2.

     Amazing

These 2 films are great, definitely some of the best car/action films around. The 3rd movie has recently been released, that too is a must see and get [when it comes out on DVD]

#3 in the 'Blokes Must Have Movies' List

    | | See all robbers's reviews (16)

Both movies have good story lines, but neither are too complicated or too in-depth to cause boredom. Both movies have fantastic action content, but neither are too unbelievably over the top apart from deflecting a missile with a tray, but there was always going to be one small flaw. Statham plays a superb role in the kind of man every guy wants to be like, and lives up to it perfectly. Fantastic movies that fully deserve the 5 stars each, and at the price it's at now then there's no reason not to buy.

     Enjoyment x 2

This is a nice boxset with 3 hours of pure enjoyment.

Transporter one is a classic and I particular liked the female alongside Jason Statham. There was something about her role that I was pleased with. Jason was his usual self and played it brilliantly. The story is fairly decent with some great chase and fighting scenes. Overall a decent viewing with some nice characters.

Number 2 was really good too, maybe not as good as number one but still worth a viewing. It has a similiar feel to number one but still different in many ways which I liked. More fight scenes and more chase scenes and more enjoyment!

Great lil duo here and I'm off to buy number 3!!
