It's amazing how many different characters Charlize Theron can pull off. This time she is a killer in a world hundreds of years from now with an unclear past and an oppressive overlord. There is now only one city walled off from the rest of the world which nature has reclaimed. People are disappearing everyday but nobody knows why. Enter Ms Theron! With her partner in crime who has hands for feet, they unravel a secret which you could never guess. The whole thing is very slick and there are a lot of good stunts too. I did enjoy this but as I said it is very strange. Worth a Watch.

I bought this as it was in a sale and was disappointed. The story was dry and you didn't feel anything for the characters. Some action stunt were good but other than that, poor! Don't bother!

I see the fans are a bit disappointed, but for my taste - someone not familiar with the comics/cartoons - this felt like a great action/fantasy movie actually.

Top 100 DVD Reviewer

I started watching this and stopped after about 20 minutes, lets just say I was not impressed. I resolved then to watch the series and then try again.

It was a different experience, it was a different film.

What many people seem to have mistaken as flaws in the film are actually deliberate efforts to recreate some of the ascetics of the original series. I have heard so many bad reviews of this film from people who have never watched any of the original series that it is almost painful, I am so glad that I ignored them.

Yes, the film has flaws, quite a few in fact. Not the least of which is the fact that you really have to watch the series for it to be any good. And that sums it up really.

You are missing 99% of this film if you have not watched the series, you MUST watch the series first! If you like the series then you will like this, if you don't like the series then you won't like this.

By the way, watch the series first.

It takes a lot to slate a film, a lot indeed for me however for this I can make an acception.

Watching this as a time filler it was not even worth that. I have not seen such wooden acting in all my life. Even The Rock has more substance in his acting!

Storyline is almost non-existent and patchy at best. This feels like so many already done sci-fi alternative future fantasy films and whilst sitting through this you can't help but compare with this coming out as the loser of any comparison.

Many actors in this have made better and have continued to do so afterwards. thankfully this film seems to have skimmed under the rader as it were and the actors involved haven't suffered too much for their mistakes.

Avoid at best, sorry but it's the best advice I can give.

This is 90 minutes of my life, which I'll never get back - I'm surprised I watched it to the end. The film is as hollow as an empty nut shell, the script is almost non-existing, and the movie is just about as fun to watch as it is to see the grass grow. And when the highlight in dialogue is Charlize Theron saying "You killed my sister", while doing the evil-eyes, you know you have chosen the wrong movie to watch. Go watch the way better Ultraviolet instead.

Shame on you, Charlize!

Great Hi-def graphics with clean audio. A good movie developed from the MTV series, which you need to see to understand the plot. Well worth the dosh.

The year is 2415, almost 400 years after 99% of mankind has been wiped out by a virus. Trevor Goodchild, a scientist and human saviour, developed a cure with an unintentional side-effect which caused for a drastic and morally questionable temporary solution...

Goodchild founded Bregna - the last human city to house the remaining 1% of mankind. Civilians of Bregna are unable to leave the city after nature has reclaimed the land outside the walls of Bregna. They follow the directives and law of a 'big brother' type of regime, of course some of them don't like it and with reason; strange disappearances and memories of sorrow or pain they can not explain and part, they choose to fight as part of an underground rebellion force and aim to defeat their fascist leaders. Greed coupled with the desire to live and not die and the politics of cloning take centre stage in a conspiracy that threatens all Goodchild has achieved, all he is about to and of course Bregna itself...

...What follows is an incredibly attractive and seductively beautiful woman prancing around in extremely tight and barely 'breathable in' outfits and kicking-ass. All of the outfits, except her night wear, cover her from head to toe, differing from that featured in MTV's cartoon series.

Let's start off by first pointing out that this film could've been a lot worse. It's a watchable and sometimes engaging film, although this is a rarity that the film captures in only several small instances throughout the barely 90 minute runtime. In my opinion this film has two saving graces:

1) Charlize Theron
Without Miss. Theron, this film almost certainly would've been doomed to 'straight-to-DVD' hell. She is beautiful within the confines of her character, not too sexy, not too dull, her engaging and confused character is the only engaging aspect of the film - we learn about her as she learns about herself, also, although her character could and should have been developed in more detail and with more background it is the only one developed to any level of audience relation. And with the two leading male roles bringing very little to the table, it looks as if it was all left to Charlize. Did I mention she was stunning?

2) Action Sequences
I counted three major and a couple minor sequences, feel free to recount though. Although waiting for them was tough and at some point you probably asked yourself 'have I really seen all the action there is' they were worth waiting for. The courtyard sequence towards the end was a little disappointing given the fact she just aimed and shot and it showed virtually no skill of such a highly trained rebel. The scene at Sascha's/Una's new home and family was a better scene, more fitting of the final battle.

The weaker points include everything except the above two. In particular the story; a plot that could have easily of survived a 90 minute feature film, had it been given the correct vehicle to do so, by that I mean story. I mean script. There seems to be very little driving force except that of revenge and that simply isn't developed as much as it should be. You have to feel for the characters and relate to their experience in order to side with them on such matters as vengeance, at the end we barely know Aeon, so how they expect us to tag along for vengeance of her sister... who by the way we only the name of and eye colour... The big failing of this flick is character development; it fails on multiple counts across all of its principal characters.

However when all is said and done, Aeon Flux is a pretty decent Sci-fi film which leaves you with little impression after watching it but is a perfectly appropriate way to kill an hour and half.

Aeon Flux has a weak plot and bad character development. Charlize Theron is an amazing actress and shouldn't have to sink to low roles such as these, although her costume is sexy. This is a stylish, underthought and rushed movie. Anyone unfamiliar with Aeon Flux will be scratching their head in dismay, and even the flashy effects and glossy sets can't cover up the fact that this is just a plain disaster.
