Crossing Over is a complex story documenting the stories of several different immigrants as they fight to be accepted as legal citizens in Los Angeles. Looking at the various facets of the process including border control, document fraud and green card processing, the film takes a measured, thoughtful look at a major issue in the US.

the film is slow to get into it's stride, however when it does it becomes a pretty interesting watch, following the fortunes of several people from different backgrounds and including complete families all trying or hoping to be given 'american' citizenship.
the corrupt methods used to make promises are highlighted in the film, the feeling of desperation that comes into play when families are cruely seperated.
the film has many highs and lows within as it follows the lead applicants through the many trauma's involved.
'harrison ford' plays a sypathetic immagration operative who's task is to seek out illegals.
currently available on 'region' 1 dvd, worth a watch at least.

 Fairly interesting

Fairly interesting but not great. Its a film that you have to watch 100pc to be able to keep up with the story line as it is about several different families, so can be difficult to know whats going on, worth awatch but wouldnt buy this film.

 Immigration & Customs

A look into the lives of different people from different cultures attempting to gain status in the USA. The movie shows the desperation and extremes that some immigrants will go to just to get a green card. Harrison Ford plays a decent immigration officer, looking to genuinely aid those in trouble. Good performances and a thought provoking storyline. Recommended.

 Cross It Off

Crossing Over follows a multitude of characters from different cultural backgrounds in their plight to be accepted as American Citizens - often by any means necessary. As the stories unfold there is corruption, bureaucracy and, inevitably, violence but precious little warmth. Harrison Ford, giving an earnest performance, heads the cast as immigration agent Max Brogan, investigating the disappearance of an illegal. In the hands of Paul Haggis, the acclaimed writer and director of Crash, this could have been a compelling and thought provoking look at serious issues. Sadly kramer's screenplay is far less accomplished. The main problem is that so many plot threads are introduced within 2 hours that most are underdeveloped and the movie as a whole becomes disjointed and ultimately unsatisfying.
