A Really Enjoyable Film For All Ages...

| | See all SpikeyShaw488's reviews (9)

Having never read the book, I watched this film with no knowledge of anything Narnian. Having watched the film though, I know all there is to know.

Four children stumble across a magical land called Narnia at the back of a wardrobe. When they get there, they find themselves having to fight and protect Narnia from the White Witch. Edmund (the youngest boy) falls for the White Witch's charms and gets captured. Trapped, he has to get rescued by his three other siblings.

After rescuing Edmund, the four children have to escape the chasing White Wtich, with the help of two friendly beavers (who are so cute by the way). After stumbling across Aslan, the almighty Lion, they engage in a huge duel between good and evil to save Narnia.

The visual effects are genius and the story is totally captivating. A really enjoyable film and one that is watchable again and again.

  Good fantasy film

This is one of the best fantasy films i have seen it has a different idea of how to show things, and characters who act out their role perfectly. The computerised animals are also very well done and has a great storry line like any other fantasy, thats what takes it down one. Due to it being like every other fantasy film.

  top family film

Really good family film - not too long to sit through & really stunning effects/scenery. Made me feel like a kid again! Younger viewers may struggle with the story a little but they will love it just the same.

  Good movie, too confusing.

As always, they've started the Chronicles at the second book - the first one was called 'The Magicians Nephew' and let you know why they managed to get to Narnia through the back of the wardrobe.
I watched this with my friends' kids and they knew I'd read the books so basically I spent the whole film answering their questions because none of it makes any sense if you haven't read the books - a bit like Harry Potter.
All in all, I think the movie was brilliant and the visual and special effects fantastic but a movie should follow a storyline and you shouldn't have to rely on prior knowledge of the storyline so things make sense.

  A bit disappointed

I bought this as a present for both my little girl and me to watch, She was enchanted by all the magical stuff, but found it a bit confusing at times and I had to explain what was going on, as I have read the books as a child. No films ever match up to the wonder of reading a good book as a child, but I felt this could have been better. I was surprised to find Peter and Susan were quite depthless, but the characters of Edmund and Lucy were better written and better performed. A good film overall.

  brilliant in every way
