A good fantasy movie but NOT comparable to the classics.

This film is widely described as 'A fantasy film in the tradition of Labyrinth or Dark Crystal', but I would tend to disagree a little, it is a good and really rather interesting fantasy movie, but basically it's what Labyrinth would be like if George Lucas did a CGI 're-imagining' of it, and resembles an extended cut sequence from a rather odd computer game that feels pretty low budget (especially in the costumes) and is painfully English, and certainly doesn't have the polish or eye candy, or the pace, of the previously mentioned movies.
It is however quite beautiful at times, and just about gets away with it, although it does suffer from aging CGI syndrome, but all in all it's not a bad movie, and I should imagine kids would be quite happy to watch it.
The extras are extensive and worth a look!
In my opinion one of the best films of this era

This film really captures teenage emotion and expresses in a way that doesn't come off as the traditional "Teenage angst" movie, this film is great for deep thinkers, people who love art and anyone willing to explore their minds a little. The film is also very funny and a beautifully mad creation
Amazing Film

Great visual effects, great characters, amazing film! A little dark in places but an enjoyable movie for the whole family to enjoy.
