The champagne is flowing - and so is the fun - in this "delightful and sly" (Roger Ebert) romantic comedy about two people who belong together but just can't seem to tie the knot. Ushering in two Academy Award nominations, and starring Hugh Grant (Notting Hill), Andie MacDowell (Michael) and a superb ensemble cast that includes Oscar-nominee Kristin Scott Thomas, Four weddings And A Funeral is truly "a very special occasion" - Rolling Stone.

Charlie (Grant) is always the best man but never the groom. Determined to avoid even a hint of commitment, this handsome English gentleman is notoriously late to every wedding. But today he's in for a surprise because not only did he forget the ring...but he also just caught a glimpse of the girl of his dreams.

Hugh Grant, what can I say he is gorgous and in this film, probably the best film he is in, how anyone can say this film is no good, it is fantastic and I have watched it time and time again, and it justs gets better. If you have never watched it then nows the time.x

 Definately a funeral

A funeral is wher they bury something dead, and they really need to put this one to rest once and for all. What on earth did anyone see in it. The acting was poor, the scripts were terrible and the storyline made no sense whatsoever. It's more interesting to watch the rain at your window than sit and watch this. Not at all funny. No drama, no adventure and to be honest I would be well pushed to fine a genre that it would fit in - the dustbin sounds about right. Probly the most boring film I have ever seen (next to 'Love Actually') and i'm only giving it one star coz i can't give it nil.

 A Romantacised view of Britain.

Four Weddings and a Funeral is a 1994 British romantic comedy film. It is the first of several films by screenwriter Richard Curtis to feature Hugh Grant. I can't say that I really agree with the other two reviews here, in that the film in neither exceptionally good or bad.

The film follows a group of friends through the eyes of Charles (Hugh Grant), a debonair Englishman, who is smitten with Carrie, an attractive American (Andie MacDowell), whom he repeatedly meets at weddings and at a funeral. The film also features Rowan Atkinson in a small role as a trainee priest who is hilarious as is one of their friends Lydia played by Sophie Thompson .

The film has a style of vintage british cinema, like the ones by Noel Coward, in that it is set in beautiful houses and surroundings and the main characters in the film mostly speak with overly enunciated english accents. You do get the impression that the film was made more for the American market. However, it is easy on the eye and a charming little film.
