Cheerful Mimiko has a very strange family for a little girl - a Panda for her Papa, and his son, Panny, calls her Mom! Join this happy family and their many adventures!

When Panny follows Mimiko to school, he must pretend to be a teddy bear so Mimiko won't get into trouble, but everyone wants a cute Panda! Despite his efforts to behave, Panny causes trouble in the school kitchen, and now the whole school is after Panny! Then, Panny makes a new friend, Tiny, a baby tiger who's wandered off from the circus. Getting Tiny back to his mom becomes the first adventure, but after a hard rain, the whole town is flooded and Mimiko, Papa Panda and Panny must rescue Tiny and other animals from the trapped circus train!

Created by Hayao Miyazaki (Spirited Away), the founding father of Studio Ghibli, this DVD is a must have for all Miyazaki completists and served as the inspiration for My Neighbour Totoro.

SING! : Panda Go Panda Go Panda!

My children love the Ghibli films, although I have had to use some parental guidance with some like Princess Mononoke as they have been a little violent, or as with Grave of the Fireflies, very upsetting.
However, this one is a 'U' and is ideal for any age.
There's a surreal plot - a little girl home alone (for an unspecified time!) comes across a father and baby talking Panda and they adopt one another and go on little adventures.
If you can get past the strange (but brilliant) plots and the fact that the little girl keeps doing a headstand that requires flashing her pants and having an accompanying weird sound effect, then you'll love it as much as the rest of the Ghibli films.
This is compulsory for any fan and a good introduction to someone new to the animation, but if you keep an open mind and open heart, you'll never want to the films to stop.
These films are unique and never boring, which is a rare thing!

 Amazing!!

This is a great little animation, which was first released at Japan in 1972.

The plot follows Mimiko, a bright little girl left alone when her grandmother leaves on a trip.
She comes home to her house in a bamboo grove to find a baby panda. His father soon comes to visit and they decide to become a family!

A great film to watch with the kids, and well... even adults will enjoy it ;)

My 3 year old loves this!!

Pappa Pands reminds me of Totoro for some reason (From my neighbour totoro)

 Different but still great

To answer the previous comment, the reason this film is different from other Miyazaki films is that it's an early one and aimed more at younger kids. But it's not 'quite bad'. It's a lovely, simple film. My 3 year old niece & nephew absolutely love it and we'll happily sit and watch it with them.
