The Terminator 1 has a great story and gave us the birth of the Cyborg (Arnie). The effects are a little dated but the actual story still holds strong. Maybe the concept of the Terminator was a little early as it worked better in the nineties? Overall a classic film that triggered the Terminator franchise.

This is a cult classic sci-fi movie directed by James (Avatar, Aliens, and Titanic) Cameron, where we see Arnold Schwarzenegger play the iconic movie cyborg for the first time! Great 80s film with now dated cheesy effects but still brilliant performances from the cast, great story and an iconic movie score!! A must own in any sci-fi fans collection of cult 80s movies!!

The Terminator movie is just one of those movies that theres not really any point picking faults in.
Quite simply because it is a All Time SciFi Action Classic.
Its got Brilliant Story, Spot on performances from Arnie, Michael Bien and Lind Hamilton.
The direction is assured and shows glimpses of what James Cameron would do in the future.
Some of the effects look a touch dated, but nothing to tragic.
Defo worth watching this and following it up with the even better Part 2, the below par Part 3 and the new Salvation Movie.

A Terminator is sent back through time to kill Sarah Connor the mother of the future human resistance leader John Connor, Kyle Reese is also sent back to protect Sarah from the Terminator, enough said on the story as i dont wish to spoil anything.....
in every sense, the fact that it was made on such a low budget cameron well and truly squeezed the juice out of the lemon on this one and got everything out of everything!!!!! The story basic but original, and this film has lost none of its original impact even 25 years later on this still packs a whallop. I feel this is the movie that really put Arnie on the map and this is who we all remember Arnie for, i think he must have a handful of lines to say in the film but as the Terminator he has a huge sinister presence in the movie, Linda hamilton (sarah connor) and Micheal Biehn (kyle Ryse) both play believable and excellent roles.
All in all the film rocks from start to finish and there is no way an anti climax to it, and the story line is excellent, now prepare yourselves for one of Arnies finest performances and hold on as this chase movie does not slow down its foot to the floor all the way.....ENJOY

This movie is one of my favourite movies all time and stands as a CGI classic. Arnie was born to play as the Terminator with his stiff wooden style working to great effect. James Cameron created something truely brilliant here as the CGI for the early 80s are something to be hold. Enjoy

In the year 2029, machines have taken over the world and a small group of surviving humans form a resistance led by a man named John Conner. In a bid to stop the humans closing victory the machines send The Terminator (Arnold Schwarzenegger) back in time to modern day earth (at the time of release 1984) to terminate Sarah Conner (Linda Hamilton) who has yet to become John's mother. With the machines plans to reshape the future taking form the game of hide and seek begins...

James Cameron's landmark science fiction thriller is a brilliant horror in terms of direction and in terms of how the writers (Cameron being one of them) foresaw the advancement of computers, to the extent that they may one day rule over the human population as opposed to the other way round. With elements such as the ongoing chase sequences set against a brilliant score and the plot device that The Terminator has to go through every Sarah Conner in the phone book to find his victim are very dark and certainly echo back to some other great horror thrillers, especially those made by Hitchcock. The cast is also very strong with the likes of Linda Hamilton and Michael Biehn playing two of the main leads, while Arnold Schwarzenegger steals the show as the terminator - the killer with very few lines and a that brilliant monotone voice.

On the whole, this is a landmark science fiction/horror film that made names for both the director and several of the actors/actresses involved and helped propel them to stardom. The Terminator also proves that even on a tight budget a brilliant film can be made so long as you have a fantastic script and although the special effects are not as grand as the follow-ups in any shape or form, they were outstanding for the time the film was made and even Cameron's sequel (Terminator 2: Judgement Day - the only one he did for the franchise) can't match the great story that this first outing delivers which is much more dramatic, satisfying and very clever indeed.   Stunning, one of the all time greats.

One of my favourite movies of all time. Iv seen it serveral times before but it never gets old. This movie is stunning and even after so many years on, it still holds up for me and the effects for the time when it was made are incredible. Brilliant story and great acting performances....I mean could anybody else be more suited to The Terminator role than Arnie?

The new Terminator movies may be entertaining, but they don't even come close to the 1st 2 which are in a different league. This film actually makes you care about what happens to the characters.

If anybody hasn't seen it, then do yourself a favour and make sure you check it out! Brillitant. 10/10

Only downside is that one of the scenes you can tell they replace arnie with a wax-work. However it was made nearly 30 years ago.
